NEWS NEWS NEWS, EVERYBODY LOVES THE NEWS! HERE THEY ARE! NEWS! UPDATES!

Yes-yes, we are aware that our break has been going on for a good while now. "Why" I hear you ask? Well, because of our inexperience, in the past couple of months of work we managed to commit almost every single possible mistake a game developer could. First, we rushed everything, trying to break records, pump out as much content as possible, but then we realised that this "race" dramatically reduced the quality of our product. Due to the stress that it was causing us, we slowed down our tempo. We tried to think this through, set our priorities straight and make a real work plan. Sounds good? Professional almost. Sadly, this resulted in more "analysis paralysis" for us. For hours we were sat down, thinking how the prologue should look, we were meticulously designing casual clothing for every character, so that it would fit their personality, we were adding details on new backgrounds and FINALLY working on nighttime versions of the locations. Last one by the way, was the nastiest part for Naughty, because adjusting the lighting for nighttime proven to be quite problematic. I'm relieved to say that all of that is behind us. 

Perhaps some of you are wondering: "Prologue? Shouldn't it be the update with Mercy's route?" And you'd be right. It's all there. Besides, the upcoming update will be the first non-demo version. In other words, it will be a fully fleshed out game, which will be constantly updated with new storylines in the future. We are simply doing this because we want to finalise the base of our work so that we don't need to come back to it every time we are trying to work on new stuff. 

That's why we took a long time to thoroughly plan the way our stat system would work. We don't want to implement something and just hope that we will be able to tweak it as the development goes along. 

The good thing that comes out of this is that after we are done, we won't need to be distracted from what's really important. The bad thing is that we made you wait. Please don't hit us!

By the way, a lot of you asked to update the progress bar and were wondering why doesn't it shift for long periods of time. The deal is that each part of the bar does not just represent a picture, but an entire chunk of development: a scene, a pack of sprites, etc. That's why when we spend a week working on a dozen new expressions for the characters, it looks like we are doing fuck all. At this point in time, it's too late to be changing anything, but we see our error and will not repeat it in the future. For the record, the script is done, but not yet translated. First - it's easier to edit the whole thing, second - our translator was on a well-deserved vacation. It's most likely that the bar with the text, just like the coding bar will fill up closer to the release date. You could use that info as a reference ;)
