if you downloaded a version of this that had wonky audio, it's fixed now and should be all set

Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us. In these episodes, Kite brings Gon and Killua deeper into the NGL, as the ants rapidly construct a very familiar kind of society. Schisms within the officer class of ants leave Colt, the senior Squadron Leader, to try and pick up the pieces. After one of Kite's worst case scenarios come true, and the Ants have taken and eaten the NGL's underworld society led by King Gyro, another (unexpected) worst case scenario hits when Gon lands a nearly fatal blow on Rammot, one of the Ants' most bloodthirsty soldiers.

Here is the old AMV we discuss: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJdoKhyD0no

I think something weird might’ve happened to the audio, Keith sounds completely normal and everyone else sounds like they’re speaking from the bottom of a pool lol

XF

Everyone except Keith has a robot-echo thing going on, is there something happening with people's individual recordings vs Keith's backup recording?

Clem

thanks! always appreciate y’all

library cats

I thought the echo during the intro was intentional until it clearly wasn't. Feedback delay Jack and Sylvi laugh hits imo

Clem

I also thought it was a bit at first lol it really added to the opening

Here's hoping it makes it onto the stream soundboard

watching the AMV before listening to the ep was such a good opener for this….thank u

That AMV goes so hard and is so pretty. The 1999 color palette doesn't fit the 2014 show, but I still want all art to look like a sunset hitting an amethyst.

I do love how the fractures in Chimera Ant society mirrors what actually happens in certain Wasp species, where towards the end of Summer the Queen cannot produce the pheromone anymore that kept the workers in line, causing the nest to collapse and the workers to spend the rest of their short lives being annoying jerks to humans.

I’m still listening, less than a third through, but Jack’s having the same deeply confusing experience I did with “Leol” because of subtitles. That ant’s name is currently Hagya and will stay that way for a *while*, he changes his name to Leol in the future. This becomes weirdly important, so hopefully someone points this out to them!

Heads up, I just noticed -- I think the shop url has a typo, there's an errant T in it. I hadn't seen the latest merch yet, it looks awesome!

Friends at the Table

yeah i realized this between recording this one and the next one, i get thrown off by the wiki which also just calls his leol

Elliot

it’s peam…

Ponzu and Pokkle cuddling on a horse followed by Killua standing six feet apart from Gon...how else can I read this but internalized homophobia
