Awesome set of episodes we have coming up, super excited? Btw, is anyone else having problems accessing the podcast?

Friends at the Table

something weird happened with the upload, it said the right time but then cut off early. should be fixed now if you delete and redownload

Angelina Fernandez

Hello! Still having issues accessing the podcast. cuts off around 1.5 hrs!

Re: the weird chamber Meruem and Netero are in, google image search "skyscraper pile foundations". Basically they shoot MASSIVE pillars deep deep into the ground to reach bedrock in order to support a building that tall. Usually the part of the foundations that Netero and Meruem are in is filled with clay, but that's all gone. In other words, I don't think weapons of mass destruction were TESTED there, but they were almost definitely USED there, on a city that literally got wiped off the map.

JJMilez

Deleting and redownloading fixed it for me just now, using Pocketcasts.

scarlet

had the same problem, I wasn't able to fix it on pocketcasts but switched to another app (antennapod) temporarily and it worked 🤷🏻 maybe pocketcasts cached the broken version?

JJMilez

Oh 100%, those are much closer in appearance!

TMHECTOR

The Kyrie showing up really cemented my personal belief that CAA is Togashi's take on the Inhumi from Gene Wolfe's Book of the Short Sun.

Aaron Harrison

If I could have put in a screenshot in the very first episode, it would have been Netero making the heart and it would have pissed everyone off but it is the ideal image of the show

Angelina Fernandez

dang i'm using apple podcasts and idt it downloads on there even? just sort of streams it. maybe i should just get another ap tho

Friends at the Table

i was able to test on pocketcasts and it seems to be working so yeah maybe its not really "deleted" according to pocketcasts, which is very annoying

Friends at the Table

you could also download it from mediaclub.plus. i checked a couple hours ago though and apple podcasts DOES have the real epiode downloadable. so if you can get it to forget the bad version, its there

scarlet

I was SO PSYKED to hear y'all talking about Netero on the blimp with the arm and leg!! My gf is watching (and listening) thru for her first time and I had to shut my mouth so hard when she talked to me about that part. It made me think about how characters are constantly putting handicaps on theirselves to make their own little game out of fighting. Which THEN reminds me of Meruem having to fight Netero without killing him to WIN his name. Meruem was essentially put into Netero's final test of the hunter exam like in Hanzo vs Gon!!! Togashi just brings every theme back a million times!!!

Samuel Ordonez

The leg and arm thing is so good because I didn’t realize it either until like a month ago rewatching this fight for like the fifth time in preparation for this.

scarlet

also, forgive me, but I believe his full name is Johnie Fairplay (is a fool's game)

Kabanaw

I just want to mention that modern survivor is worth trying! I started watching with a group of friends a couple of years ago and I was surprised at how good it is. I can recommend the current season (48) which has had a lot of actually good survivor play and heartfelt moments, and season 46, which ends up almost being a parody of survivor with some of the funniest guys that have ever been made up.

Moli Liu

the wwii metaphor is BLOWING MY MIND

Adelaide Rieck

Side note but if yall are interested in reading on the not just physical but also social stuff regarding survivors of nuclear bombs i recommend Ibuse's Black Rain. Its semi fictional, based on journals similar to the books presentation, and also has a decent movie adaptation. Either way it's...well, it's a lot

Adelaide Rieck

Also now with the "it's always been abt ww2" I wonder if we're to draw some parallels between Pitou (and Pouf's) human experiments and Unit 731

Angelina Fernandez

I think I'll try mediaclub.plus bc my apple podcast is still saying the ep length is 1 h 6 m x___x thanks for your help! so excited to hear the rest!

Evan!!

I'm so hyped about this episode, truly one of the best HxH episodes.

Evan!!

Side note I haven't received Postcards for like a year despite having been on the 25 dollar tier for quite a long time, I've tried getting into contact via the email but have had no success.

Fancy George Jones

As usual love the music discussion! When watching the episodes I was surprised to hear a Kyrie rather than a Dies Irae (often associated with death and judgement). The connection with Guanyin is really cool! Banger soundtrack banger episodes banger podcast

Rosehip Sister

re: stylized flowers while first rendering of them is weird, this is 100% tree peonies, a pretty classic flower

Mica Peacock

When will the DBZ Cell Saga bonus episode come back from the war?

Kenehan

Speaking of music, in these episodes something clicked about Shaiapoufs later violin section, it's a montage of different Paganini violin pieces. It swings from one piece to another adroitly as Pouf is skilled at swinging from social setting to setting, but ultimately betrays his shattered personhood as has come up a few times in this podcast. It's a really fun composition, and I appreciate how the podcast has made me think about musics usage more analytically. (I bring this up because I don't remember if we get any more of shaiapoufs music going forward)

Begemott

How do you deal with an ant problem? Poison.

Begemott

Also something to consider: What was the first thing that actually harmed the ants when they were first running around killing humans?

kd

No idea if Togashi would have known about it or it's just an interesting convergence, but the discussion of Netero having the bomb implanted in his heart & setting it off by stabbing himself reminded me of Roger Fisher's (an American academic who studied negotiations) proposal to have the nuclear codes implanted in the heart of a volunteer, such that the president would have to kill them to launch a nuke - > My suggestion was quite simple: Put that needed code number in a little capsule, and then implant that capsule right next to the heart of a volunteer. The volunteer would carry with him a big, heavy butcher knife as he accompanied the President. If ever the President wanted to fire nuclear weapons, the only way he could do so would be for him first, with his own hands, to kill one human being. The President says, "George, I'm sorry but tens of millions must die." He has to look at someone and realize what death is—what an innocent death is. Blood on the White House carpet. It's reality brought home. > When I suggested this to friends in the Pentagon they said, "My God, that's terrible. Having to kill someone would distort the President's judgment. He might never push the button."
