Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us. This episode we watched Trap, and next time we'll be back with a sequel to our season 1 screenshot stream for out next season: The Sopranos

Three of the five people on this show were really suprised by what Trap ended up being, which is funny because one of those three had already seen it!

Serial murderer Cooper Abbott aka The Butcher takes his young daughter to the event of a lifetime: perfect seats for pop phenom Lady Raven's stadium tour. Little does he know the concert has been turned intro a trap for him, set by the FBI. He uses his charm and some looney tunes logic to try to avoid being caught, while still trying to show his kid a good time.

Featuring Keith Carberry (@KeithJCarberry), Sylvi Bullet (@SYLVIBULLET), Ali Acampora (@Ali-online), Arthur Martinez-Tebbel (@amtebbel), and Janine Hawkins (@Bleatingheart)

Produced by Keith Carberry

Music by Jack de Quidt (available at notquitereal.bandcamp.com)

I watched Trap right before listening to the Shyamalan Media Club coverage. Been waiting for this 😌👏

George McG

Trap is, indeed, 5 stars. I've watched it 3 times and I can easily see myself watching it another three times.

Trap and the reaction among the gang to it really seems to perfectly encapsulate the Shyamalan experience over these watches. Has some stuff, fumbles some stuff, clearly a guy who had ideas he wants to examine and discuss but just can't catalyze it into a fully satisfying final product. I will say at least he's interesting, he's not a boring direct, he's not pumping out the same stories with the exact same themes and exact same settings. M Knight isn't boring, he's not great or bad and his mixed catalogue of success, failure and then a new kind of success again recently makes him interesting to analyze

I fucking ADORE this movie I'm 100% with Sylvi, this is an S tier Shyamalan movie, I WILL be watching it again

Campbell Maggs

I just want to say I felt Sylvie SO HARD in the first couple of minutes of this episode, regarding the "I know which is the best movie but it's not the one I like the most" comment, mostly with regard to the original and prequel Star Wars trilogies. Like, I know that Phantom Menace is better than Revenge of the Sith, I know that A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back are better than Return of the Jedi...but like...space battles, man

Mr. Encyclopedia

Keith immediately having a pull for funniest thing he said to himself is deeply on brand.

TrueLily

He was right is the thing it was really funny

Michael Neely

I have so much familiarity with both Lifetime movies and Hallmark movies because of my mom and really enjoyed having Janine in this episode.

Hearing some of the gang say "I wish we had done something else with the season" was in fact on my bingo card. Still a fantastic listen, can't wait to start Sopranos season!

Nobody tell my therapist how happy I was when I was this episode was three hours long (I’m a Trap hater, but I love mess)

WhiteOwlpro

Not about the episode itself, but the narrow column patreon makes the feed on my monitor led to the title of this post having "Trap: Media" as the end of the first line. Gotta say. Banger wordmark. Somebody start a new podcast, quick.

I've been waiting for this for Every Episode of this season...☺️
