Today I spent an ungodly amount of time experimenting with textures, both making them (absolutely mangling old paintings in Affinity, a photoshop-like program) and applying them to models. Over and over and over.

I spammed twitter with them for far too long, so It seems appropriate to put the unposted ones here, as part of the behind the scenes stuff you guys are privy too.

Besides the psychedelic fun of watching models change colors rapidly, these random-ish models have given me a lot of ideas for future models and ways of dealing with textures. Besides pretty patterns and colors I saw better armor, masks, and strange faces than I have generated through conscious effort. There's something to harvest here for ideas and materials for later.

I also included a couple pictures of the models in their gray, nude state so you can see what was being done to them as well as the big sheet full of texture images.

As usual, these screenshots are exported without filmgrain or dithering, two default features in blender, and at 320x240. A lot of this looks good at higher resolutions but the jagged, crunchiness is just gorgeous to me.

Soon I want to post some models prepared for display, or for download, so you guys can see them better/poke around if you'd like.

Video of me working on some of this stuff coming soon.
