ok, THAT was unexpected. On a different note, couldn't he have gotten access to the dungeon by healing prisoners again? .....probably not, wartime and so on, no time for prisoners - unless they are important enough and hurt enough to need attention immediately. Though, asking the captain couldn't hurt, could it? ......it probably could. You really don't want them to get suspicious of your motives for turning yourself in, and asking to be turned in right after learning that there is no need to visit the dungeon as a healer......... - if he was needed as a healer, good, if not - that smashes both plan A and plan B unless you want to be checked very carefully after commencing plan B.

Still think the captain was a bit of an ass though. Bad enough to try and murder an ally when they are following the letter of the law, but to try it with someone who you call friend and you've seen come back to life with your own eyes just seems stupid. And he didn't even apologize afterwards!

Think about what happened to get Joe the skill. He was just thinking stuff, and noticed, barely, that some of those thoughts didn't fit. If that's what Mental Manipulation is like...I can understand the reaction. Only by acting instictively would you have even a chance against so insidious of a power...and that's only one skill in Psychomancy
