Love this film. Another great Winter Olympics film to checkout is Eddie the Eagle. Stars Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman. Also, based on a true story and it happened during the same Olympics that Cool Runnings competed in.

This film has always inspired me to never quit and I had my own Cool Runnings moment in High School. I was never the best runner on my track team. I was always 3rd or 4th best in an event, but what made me unique was I was very consistent in multiple events (ran 100, 200, 4x1, 4x2, 400, 4x4, and 800). Since I was so consistent my coach would switch me to whatever they needed to get points for that meet and sometimes ran multiple events. One meet at a special all-star relay they brought me as one of five alternates. Well, that time one of our runners missed the bus and needed someone to fill, but asked all five of us who wanted to fill because the reason they were looking for a volunteer was the runner was a hurdler, and nobody had run hurdles in their lives. I stepped up right away, and they had some give me a quick tutorial of running hurdles and practice for about 45 minutes before the event with some spare hurdles before the event. It came time for the event. Our first runner got us a huge lead, and the second runner went and lost us all of our huge lead. Then it was my go, I’m going and it’s going good and I am staying neck to neck with them, then over the next to last hurdle I feel something on my backfoot and then blackout for a brief moment. I open my eyes I see I am still in my lane and the other runners are going by. I get up jump over the last hurdle pass off the baton and tell him to finish the race as passing it off. Once it was over I apologized to my guys for losing the event. Everyone said it was fine and they were surprised I was able to finish. I was like why I am fine. Then the trainer comes over and says “Come with me” and I said “yes, I’m good.” Then the trainer “you don’t have a Choice come with me”. I followed him to the area where he was helping people and I was seeing why everyone was asking me why I was fine. I was bleeding all over and was looking like Frankenstein’s Monster’s ugly brother. lol. While he was treating me my coached walked in, and I apologized for losing it, and he said, “No, I am very proud of you, and actually we placed. I said, “What?” He told me, “Because you stayed in your lane and finished the race we place, because two teams got disqualified for running outside their lane.” So my relay team ended up getting a placed ribbon and we actually ended up winning the meet by the exact amount of points we got from the points we got from my relay team’s event. That was my favorite moment of mine that I had in high school sports. :)

Also, another great Disney winter weather sport film to checkout would be Iron Will. Underrated sports film.
