I love Jane Austin. I love Pride and Prejudice. You guys should watch the version with Colin Firth made in 1995.

Enjoyed this reaction!😊. I’m here again to PLEASE consider Outlander (2014) for a different historical romance vibe mixed with time travel, while we wait a couple years for Bridgerton s5.

Julie

Jaby writers have been copying Jane Austin for centuries. Jane Austin is their blueprint! Julia Quinn the author of the Bridgerton books, fan of Jane Austin.

Okay, I'm going to enjoy this reaction, but I beg you to watch the 90s BBC miniseries of Pride & Prejudice, 6 hours and it really is iconic. Everyone needs to experience Colin Firth's Darcy and it keeps the period romance reactions of this great pair going!

Julie

Actors don’t know Jane Austin! Actors should know Shakespeare, Jane Austin and Charles Dickens at least. I remember they made us take this drama class. I was like what am I doing here?🤣🤣 it turned out to be very interesting.

I always thought the idea that the Bennet's show a lack of propriety stems from behaviour displays at the ball and the continuous mention of Bingley's worth. But I think it's important to note that the quote comes from Darcy who at the time is deep in his "prejudice" about what constitutes as appropriate and respectable behaviour (which he does reflect on later in the book/movie). I know Darcy seems a bit blank but the background of what happened to his sister, and of course coming from wealth, I think would make him wary of himself and his friends being taken advantageous of. Anyway, unpopular opinion, I like the 2005 version better than the BBC version LOL, something about Matthew Macfadyen walking through the field at sunrise really gets me. Also Jaby, the hand flex scene is so iconic HAHA

Yes please watch the 1995 version!!

I join you in that request for a review of the 1995 mini-series. It appears to be closest to the book version.

Yall have to do the colin firth version which would be a weekly drop as its a mini series (6 eps) and the best adaptation in my opinon. Then we have the desi version 'bride and prejudice' (put on both not just cinedesi or just here 😁) and THEN (iykyk) we got the two versions of 'emma' (gwen paltrow version, ana taylor joy version) then you gotta dip your toe into some Shakespeare: love, labour's lost, midsummer's night dream, hamlet, amd macbeth to start. Pleaee and thank you 🙂‍↕️

This might have been mentioned a million times already but Darcy paying Wickham to marry Lydia was him saving the family from ruin. Having a sister join a man out of wed-lock will stain the family and the other sisters will have no other offers from respectable families.

I have watch this movie at least 200 times over the last 20 years... I never noticed how long the one shots were. I can now watch it over and over again while admiring the way it is filmed now. This is a vague inclination, due to the time constraints there is a lot that has to be cut. Many are either big fans of the movie or big fans of the 1995 series. I love both for different reasons. The 2005 movie the scenery, I love that Lizzy is more fiery and well - "you have bewitched me body and soul and I love, I love, I love you and never wish to be parted from you from this day on" The 1995 version as it is multiple episodes it follows the timeline of the book and we see Darcy with his friends more, and watch as his feeling grow. We get a better understanding. Most people who watch this will have a good understanding of the source material. Darcy is not really engaged. His aunt has just thought that this is what he should do...but I can pretty much gtd you that he would never have married his cousin. Yes - would definitely recommend watching the 1995 series with Colin Firth. My watches are in the 3 digits for this version as well. The 95 series follows the book much closer as it has 6hrs. I love both, because they have very different feels. There is more time dedicated to how his feeling progress. I have also read the book a dozen times. Not sure if you recognized everyone. You got Rosamund Pike, Caroline Bingley is Kelly Reilly - Beth from Yellowstone. Carey Mulligan - as Kitty, and Jena Malone as Lydia.

I am surprised you didn't say much about all the talent in this movie. Early in the careers of Carey Mulligan, Jenna Malone, Kelly Reilly (Caroline Bingley - Beth from Yellowstone )

I love both the 1995 version - truer to the book and this version. Colin Firth is fantastic...plays Darcy quite differently. Side note - every year they stream the movie at the location used for Pemberly. It is on my bucket list.
