The Director of the Wiz, Sidney Lumet, also directed one of the best films of all-time, 12 Angry Men (1957). Also, one of the few films that has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If you have not seen this film, I highly recommend it. :)

Since you said you like tap dancing, got to checkout White Nights. They bring one of the best tap dancers in tap, Gregory Hines, and one of the best best ballet dancers of all time, Mikhail Baryshnikov, to team up in this dance film that is also a political thriller. They themselves also did all the dance choreography in the film. Their co-stars are also Helen Mirren and Isabella Rossellini. It was also directed by Taylor Hackford as well.

Without The Wiz, we don't get "Off The Wall", "Thriller" or "Bad". Quincy Jones produced those albums after working with Michael on this film.

Never noticed this before, but you can see Diana Ross laughing with her back to the camera when Richard Pryor says "Dogcatcher" and jumps in fear. She's standing there cracking up while he continues to deliver his lines. lol

The Emerald City scene was filmed right between the two towers of the World Trade Center and the man playing the gold piano is Quincy Jones.

I’ve waited so long for you guys to do this and so happy you enjoyed it! Its been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid. Few things: *Alot of this was filmed at Coney Island in New York. *Latoya moved to New York with Michael while he filmed this. Janet missed Mike and came up also and at night when they weren’t shooting, Mike, Latoya and 11 year old Janet would go out to Studio 54 lol *The director didnt originally want Micheal Jackson until he saw him perform. *Mikes makeup was 4 hours so he would sleep in it and come to set already in makeup to prevent having to go through it repeatedly. *At $24m i was the most expensive musical at the time. *Critics bashed the film not being able to get over the Dorothy age change in the story. *Whitney Houstons mom is a background singers. *Phylicia Rashad from the cosby show is one of the munchinks lol *Ted Ross the cowardly lion IS from the Broadway stage play. Its why they made the Lion so theatrical. also Aunt Em and Evilene are also from the broadway play. Glad you all enjoyed it!

I love the Wiz. I like the music and dancing the most. The story was great and I happen to like musicals. When I lived in New York for a few years I went to a musical it was wonderful.

A fun reaction and a enjoyable movie. If I might suggest another fun musical. Xanadu 1980.
