Jaby clocked it when he called Bear a creep in the first 10 min. The One Wish Willow is an allegory to the nice guy toxicity. Bear loved the idea of Nikki and obsessed over her so the wish created a version of Nikki that would reflect Bear's obsession back on him. The ending is not just a horror tragedy. Its how real life abuse situations often end for women where they are often left to deal with the consequences of what happened to them. Also the sex scene was not lovemaking Jaby. If you decide to watch it again, notice her face. She is not there. She has a completely blank face but is making all the right sounds. That was straight up SA. Especially because it comes right after he realizes at the restaurant that Nikki is not Nikki and that the wish did this. He straight up says "It doesn't matter to me". He doesn't care that its not real Nikki. Achara he is not shy or awkward. He is a coward POS who does not take any responsibility for his own actions. He's such a coward that he would rather make a weird wish rather than tell Nikki that he likes her when she asks him directly. If you read the script, the description for Bear is that "he just likes to wallow in his own misery rather than do something about it". When wish Nikki is completely escalating and hurting herself, Bear completely freezes and starts disassociating. He only decides to do something (kill himself) when it becomes inconvenient for him. Now that Nikki is too crazy, he doesn't want her. Even then he cant go through with it and tries to throw up the pills, only for wish Nikki to stop him by breaking the one Willow wish. Like real Nikki literally asks him to kill her because she is suffering that much and all Bear could say is "what's so bad about being with me?". Literal incel behaviour. Its always about him and what benefits him. During the lunch scene, she added two photos. One where she is circled Bear's face and said "you" and then under her own photo she wrote "not me". That's real Nikki trying to reach out to Bear because she thought Bear didn't know, not realizing he is the one who trapped her.

Director Curry Barker said his next film will be in will be in the same universe as Obsession and there is will be an Easter egg in the that film that has Nikki’s fate.

If you are looking for another new film to react to, I highly recommend The Sheep Detectives (my 2nd favorite film of the year to Project Hail Mary so far). It is much more than just a cute kids film. It actually has very mature themes and it actually has a good murder mystery. It is also an emotional roller coaster as well. Also, but news is you don’t have to rent it or buy it on VOD. Prime actually skipped VOD on this one and brought it straight to Prime.

I only felt bad for Nikki and Sarah. Even if in the beginning, Bear didn't know fully what was happening, it got to a point where he did know it was wrong. I don't feel bad for Bear at all. He was fucked up for what he did. She was never going to wish for him to have never made a wish. She was TOO OBSESED. He made his bed. Nikki was the one violated.

I dont know how anyone can feel bad for bear. Dude was told multiple times that Nikki isn't her but he still tried every chance he could to keep the 'Nikki' that was obsessed with him. Sure, he didnt know that was what was gonna happen when he used the one wish willow, but it gets to a point where he knew what he was doing is wrong but still tries to keep the obsessed nikki. The one wish willow was basically an allegory for a date r*pe drug because actual nikki couldn't say no to him. It doesnt matter whether nikki ever liked bear. The wish took away nikki's ability to choose anything besides him. The free spirited, nice, thoughtful nikki we saw in the beginning of the movie was taken away and bear didn't even care, which shows how much he cared for the actual nikki. He never wanted to save nikki, he wanted to keep the obsessed nikki but not her be weird. he objectified her. No amount of awkwardness/shyness should excuse his behavior. I also like when Achara said 'it's not like aladin,' because Genie said in that movie that aladin shouldn't wish for someone to love him.

Horror is on a wildly good ride these past couple of years, this adds so much to it too! I saw the budget for this movie was only like 750k and it's this big.

Her delivery of "comon you guys! Im just joking... k, fine! Im not joking, deal with it!" Is so good! The party scene is my favorite scene of the whole movie! Also I like how they could've had a cliche happy sounding female voice for the hotline, but instead having a tired sounding stoner guy made it 10x more unsettling.

At the bar when he kept getting interrupted. Foreshadowed the deaths. Ian interrupted talking about a gun at their workplace, which is how he died. Sarah came out of nowhere and killed the vibe.. and Bears toast to Sandy was interrupted, and he also went out like Sandy.

Can someone please let me know if this movie is more of a psychological thrilller with a few jump scares from a creepy scary looking antagonist orrrrrrr straight Freddy Krueger jump scares monster under the bed classic horror

It's mostly psychological horror - thriller. There are a few jump scares maybe 2-3, but for the most part the horror is supplied from the things the characters are capable of.

Yea, even with the scene where Nikki begged the guy to end her. He immediately bought it back to himself. I was so sick of this guy by the end of the movie.

Note: Spoilers below . . . . . . Oh my goodness. I just realized that the get together , the bar scene - that's Nikki's way of telling Bear exactly how she feels about him! AND BEAR REALIZED IT THEN, BEFORE SHE ASKED HIM TO OFF HER. Word for word, even the fact that she knows exactly what he did with the One Wish Willow! I got some of the implications on my first watch, but listening really closely the second time. Holy sh*t, now there's 0 question, Nikki flat out doesn't like Bear, like AT ALL. She never did. If I had to guess, it's probably due to the fact that she knows Sara likes Bear and also that she's been involved with Ian.

You guys wondered why she would do that with his cat...its all in the wording of the wish. He wished "I wish Nikki would love me more than anyone else in the fucking world" and its the swear that turned her into basically a fucked up human being. When she did the cat memorial, they have a little conversation and Bear basically tells her what she did was fucked up, and she's questioning him. She argues with him that its not fucked up. If you watch the scene again, its very clear. She can't be normal AT ALL, adding that to the extreme obsession factor, she never had a chance.
