The actress that plays Kitana, Adeline Rudolph, is also cast as one of the main characters in the Reacher spin-off, Neagley, which recently released all of season 1 and has been renewed for Season 2.

Fatalistic Viking

Brandon's comment for why they made Cole Young was spot on. The first movie (2021) was meant to really setup the tournament. That included explaining each characters back story and motives for taking part in the tournament. Cole Young's motives was simple enough that they didn't need to delve into it at all. Plus his back story helped connect Scorpion to the story instead of just having him there just because. Since we didn't need to focus on Cole's back story and motives it allowed them to spend much more screen time on every other character. If the MC was from the actual game they would have taken up much more screen time, meaning that there wouldn't be as much for the other characters. This was one of the issues with the very first movie. They kind of just dropped the characters into the tournament and spent like 5-10 minutes on the back story.
