Karnan is one of the most interesting characters in Mahabharata. He was born in Pandava royalty but abandoned and later became friends with Duryodhana of the Gauravas and fought the Pandavas in the great war. Even though he was a mortal He was so righteous, Lord Krishna who is literally a God, had to trick him to defeat him. So yes this trailer has the same premise of saviour to the poor farmers, but I am sure there will be very different character development and screenplay treatment we haven't seen before.

Karna (The character from Mahabaratha) covers a whole spectrum of characteristics such as raising as a hero/king from humble beginnings, Selfless charity/help to those in need, Unconditional Friendship (Fighting his own family in war for his Friend) etc etc. Its hard to say from this trailer where the story goes. . Since its directed by Mari Selvaraj who also directed the excellent move "Pariyerum Perumal" this movie will surely revolves around both his humble beginnings and helping others. In an interview with director he said "While the Karnan from Mahabharata was the one who gave away all his worldly belongings, Dhanush’s Karnan has nothing to offer in the film as he comes from a conservative background. Karnan will also be seen fighting for his rights in the movie" . Hope that helps.

While there's been a lot of speculation about the story of this movie, what I think is the most likely (judging by the visuals) is this. In 1999, for the first time in Tamil Nadu, a Dalit (oppressed community) person named Murugesan was elected as a panchayat board president. This irked some of the 'upper' community people. So they went on to find and decapitate Murugesan. This film could very well be about that because of the constant head motif present in the teaser.

Jaby will not buy into the crying in this film. Maybe achara need to watch this film with jaby. Again this how poor people cry in village area .

Karnan character is kind of similar to simba in lion king and aragorn in Lord of the rings. Or bahubaali. I do not who came first.
