Matt Colston

This is such an ominous list you all were detailing.

NYCM&AHole

Sounds like Sudan is the first megadeth album - killing is my business and business is good

William

I don’t know if I can be associated with the podcast anymore

William

Just saw this in the NYT - “FORMER RUSSIAN JOURNALISTS, HOSTS OF ‘WAR NERD’ PODCAST, BEMOAN THE DECLINE OF LONE NUT GUNMEN ASSASSINS KILLING US CITIZENS”

Grant Francis

Mirage is a great name for a fighter jet

Elizabeth Kallquist

I just found out a couple of years ago that France still claims a couple of islands that are closer to Newfoundland than Newfoundland is to the rest of Canada.

Ander Pierce

Haha Mark how does it feel to be on a list with the likes of Shapiro and Peterson 🤣😭

MoldyTolge

Perfect soundtrack for navigating out of a parking garage after a baseball game

Ander Pierce

My sincere condolences to Katherine's brother. Cancer is endlessly fucked, and the price we pay for all the widgets we enjoy and the toxicants we pump into our soil, water, and air to make them.

Ander Pierce

haha really? I had to google it to confirm u were satirizing

Øystein Monsen

Re: that poll, I don't think that this mode of aggregation is reasonable, because people could pick more than one response. Still, at the very least 50% of respondents agree with the idea of pushing a ceasefire, compared to at least about 25% of respondents disagreeing. It remains a remarkable poll.

Matthias Höck

Yes, difficult to respond to this poll. I do want peace but also want Putin to cut down on his "make Russia great again" thing and stop pushing for a Warsaw pact V2.0

William

Ari was involved in the illegal sale of the PROMIS software, and I think he helped get parts for the isrally nukes that don’t exist

Philippe Duhart

As a French Basque, I had an expectedly odd reaction to Mark saying “ethnic French.”

AG

I regret to inform you I will be unable to continue supporting your podcast since are officially an enemy of Ukraine (jk).

Hans Anders

Indeed. On the assumption that 1) both sides tick the same amount of boxes on average and 2) few people tick both a ‘yes’ and ‘no’ option, about two-thirds of people are in favour of pushing for peace. And fully 50% want peace because of all the death and suffering, not some strategic consideration.

JoR

It was especially funny how they were lamenting this after talking about Mark being on a list of targets lol

JoR

An interesting question on the poll says "negotiate while Ukraine has leverage". Genuinely wondering if Ukraine even has much leverage at this point.

Cameron Young

When Ukraine pushed the very thin Russian line back and held it, say winter of 2023 I think. Would have been the time to start negotiating. The generals - like the ones who actually do the planning and analysis not the joint chiefs - knew this I assume and just realized how damaging it would have been to their careers to recommend this course. Got boat payments to make. Same thing happened in Afghanistan. We lost 10 Years + before we left. But admitting that makes you the loser, you cant sell a loser.

M.K.

What do you think now that he's called for elections for the parliament? I know he'll still be president but how will this change for him?

Fun fact: Saint Pierre and Miquelon is the only part of north America where the euro is the official currency

David D

It's also important to mention that the World Socialist Website has been banned in Ukraine. Moreover, a young Ukrainian socialist, and writer for the WSWS, has been thrown in prison on baseless charges. I found out about it here: https://www.wsws.org/en/special/pages/freebogdan.html

Doug Cartel

Oh we say assassinations are "rare" in this country, but every so often a carjacker just *happens* to kill an organizer for protests against police brutality and the police just *happen* to shrug and call it a cold case.

T

New Caledonia is strategically important to the French national rugby team 😂 lots of good French rugby players are sourced from the New Calendonian “natives” as well as the sons of the French colonial police…

Jaime Christley

Going further back, heroin was originally synthesized and marketed - by Bayer - as a non-addictive replacement for morphine. Tip of the hat to Michael S. Judge of the DEATH IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER podcast for that fun fact. Lots and lots of American wealth is owed to running dope.

Alex

Came here to say this lol. Shouts out to Ghost Stories For The End Of The World podcast for introducing me to this kooky character

Breakaway

The Holy Grail of North American License Plates

Mark Ames

Yeah, "mainlander" is probably the proper nomenclature. If only we had a Kanak subscriber who could weigh in on this. Or do we?

Thomas Unterberger

Also the only place in North America where the guillotine was used!
