Guest: Peter Korotaev, Events In UkraineRecorded: July 25, 2025

A special episode, recorded while the War Nerd recovers from ferocious Angloid allergies: Ames talks to friend of the show Peter Korotaev about Zelensky's overnight transformation from Western Defender Of Democracy... to shady Judeo-Putinoid Corrupter of Democracy. We discuss NABU, Shabunin, Nazi vs Nazi, and Ukraine's rapidly deteriorating battlefield.

Mit Steiners Angriff wird alles in Ordnung!

The Naboo are a peaceful people

CR

Apropos of nothing, but I was just thinking (as I happen to find a new episode dropped) how all the stuff you and Annibale were discussing about the Vatican was the plot of The Godfather Part 3 and none of you seemed to have the faintest idea.

Elsie Hupp

Never mind the Sorosites; what about the Gungans? What role do the Gungans have in Ukraine’s evolving political economy?

Elsie Hupp

I dunno, the Galactic Trade Federation makes some good points to the contrary, no?

Elsie Hupp

I always find the word “Russiagate” annoying because, like… Just because the Muller investigation ended up being extraordinarily underwhelming does not mean that the Muller investigation uncovered nothing. Rather, what the Muller investigation uncovered ended up being so incredibly cringe that we as a society decided to pretend that actually it never happened.

The Squash

I haven't heard of these mini north Korean tanks. Anyone have a model name?

Elsie Hupp

And my attitude towards Bellingcat is that Bellingcat serves the purpose of airing the dirty laundry of Russia and its allies, just exactly like how WikiLeaks previously served the purpose of airing the dirty laundry of the US and its allies. In both cases, the dirty laundry is real, because every country has dirty laundry, and all it takes to dig it up is time, money, and persistence. Anyway Julian Assange probably shouldn’t have raped that Swedish CIA agent; say what you will about Eliot Higgins he at least apparently knows how to use a condom!

Zach

Wishing John the best.

Gergely Gáli

My question is when will Western Liberals be aware of that they were fed a completely wrong narrative about the Ukraine war. Soon? Later? Never?

Kawaii Leonard

great to learn about Tomáš Fiala. Sad day for Czechs: the official bio on Dragon Capital lists him as “Tomas Fiala,” no accent marks

Elsie Hupp

Just when you think you’re out… they pull you back in!

Terry Dunk

The Dirlewanger thing has to just be a thumb in the eye or a bit of trolling towards anyone concerned with the open neo-Nazism in Ukraine, because why else would you style yourself after an alcoholic pedophile and rapist whose unit is famed for doing no actual fighting other than torturing civilians, and who was finally beaten to death by Polish guards in stuffed in an unmarked grave.

Alberto García

They will say that the fact remains Russia attacked and invaded Ukraine. Which is true. The difference is why they did it and the role of US-EU

Gergely Gáli

I meant the narrative that this a war between good and evil, democracy against authoritarianism

CR

Remember how the biggest protest against Trump was when he fired Jeff Sessions? That is how fucking pathetic rich white liberals are the world over.

CR

I know there’s Anglo American equivalents, but I’m blanking at the moment. Other than Churchill, who was a fucking idiot and a monster of a man who made one good speech and spent the rest of his life making the world a worse place (and the UK, but fuck the UK)

CR

When they are told to, just like they are now being told to hate Z and that they should be sad about people dying in Gaza *somehow*.

CR

At least we’ll get The War Nerd Divine Comedy out of it.

CR

They found collusion with Israel, but that is taboo for all to acknowledge. But the fact is that it was total bullshit. And Trump should’ve burned down everyone involved as soon as he took office because that is what you do to losers.

CR

I wonder if the coming Ukrainian civil war will have as many factions as the Spanish civil war.

JoR

The Co-Hosts of this age are weak! A no show? Amateur hour... Jk. Only the second time in 537+ episodes where Mark or John missed either. I think John interviewed someone on his own once

JoR

From their perspective the only narrative that matters is "we hate Russia, we want them to lose, be humiliated, or at least die in large numbers" From their perspective, it's going to be extremely easy to shrug their shoulders at Ukraine when it's a husk of a country. "They deserve it, should've listened to us more!" And maybe even "what's the difference between them and Russia anyway?"

Matthias Höck

Seymour Hersh wrote on the 18th that the US wants Selensky replaced. Seems this operation is now in full swing.

Elsie Hupp

I think the main thing we should learn from the Muller investigation is that if you look under a large rock you shouldn’t be surprised at the ecosystem that has developed there. A bunch of sleazy fixers got convicted of embarrassing crimes. Florals for spring. Revolutionary!

Elsie Hupp

The blindingly obvious way to reconcile Ukraine and Gaza is to take the position the US foreign military aid invariably makes things worse. No, Russia should not have invaded Ukraine. But with *either* the US or Russia as friends, does Ukraine even need enemies?!?

Elsie Hupp

“Some of you may die, but that’s a sacrifice… I’m willing to make.”

Elsie Hupp

And if burning losers is what one does, why hasn’t Donald Trump self-immolated at least a dozen times over the past forty-plus years? No, what America loves best is shameless incorrigibility. (The problem with Hillary Clinton and with Kamala Harris is that they actually know shame.)

CR

Because he’s a loser

Elsie Hupp

Are you saying that Donald Trump needs… assistance (?) getting burned? I would definitely agree that he’s mostly been doing an incredibly mediocre job of self-destruction. (Though, to be fair, I would say the whole never-mind-about-Epstein soap opera currently unfolding before our very eyes seems like a welcome change of pace, especially considering how, um, well so many of his supporters have been handling it.)

drizzly_november

The constantly repetition of NABU made me imagine Mark interviewing Ben Aris about the economic impacts of Trade Federation’s blockade of Naboo.

blazed uncle

Really good episode, as always. Patrick Hennigsen released a podcast episode today also about Zelensky also titled “Downfall”. Does not augur well for the Servant of the People.

triplevalaska

He has be almost 90 now, I find it hard believe that he is really getting any inside scopes, he sounded like was quite the man but who is he really talking too?

Doug Cartel

That talk about using AI training to make wireless drones immune to jamming is something I heard way back when the Lancet was first deployed, no idea how much of it was true of course

Dill Gherkin

Great episode. Mark is a wonderful salesman. Read Peter’s newsletter and you will probably want to kill yourself

Aditya V

Interesting, NABU sounds so much like the Lokpal that was proposed by the anti-corruption campaign of 2011. Lokpal was initially proposed to be formed entirely by civil society folks and to have draconian police state powers over govt bureaucracy and politicians, but not against corporations.

Dan

The entire listen, I kept hearing NABU as "Naboo", and imagining scenes from The Phantom Menace.

MoldyTolge

Folks, I’ve signed an incredible deal for Plasma, the Mid Rim has never signed a deal like this

MoldyTolge

But who is the Phantom Menace?

MoldyTolge

My bet is on the New Crimean Khanate Front

8BitThunder

Can anyone provide a link to the 2019 open letter from civil society groups?

parker

It's not really ? I'm into this stuff and thats just currently not a good idea. You need alot of training as well as giving ai control of the trigger. Idk how willing the US government is about stuff like that let alone smaller countries but I'd hope that they'd at least want to maintain an illusion of control

parker

He's literally just talking to generals in the army who are pissed off with how stupid as shit the us government is competence whise

IRIDYSCENZIA

You're making great progress , well done! 🌟👍
