Sorcerer - Ooze Soul (Patreon)
Content
Though oozes may be spineless, many of them can be extremely dangerous, especially the Elder Oblex. For the descendants of slimes (ew?), their bodies are forever altered. Why be a dragon when you can be a gross slimy mess?

This is one of the first subclasses I designed! I wanted to make a homebrew that could cast a Poisonball - a fireball with poison damage, and eventually this came out of it. It's been received well, so I hope you have a lot of fun with this. The Slime Split feature is especially fun to use in combat, exploration, or roleplay situations.

Sorcerer subclasses generally follow the same progression, mostly because of how squishy they are. Their 1st level feature usually provides a health or defensive feature to offset their low d6 hit dice (Draconic Sorcerers' Draconic Resilience or Giant Soul/Stone Soul's extra hit points). Their 6th level feature provides a resistance or evasive maneuver to let them get out of tight spots. Their 14th level feature provides a mobility buff (like wings or watery form), and their 18th level feature is a powerful capstone. With that in mind, the Ooze Soul Sorcerer offers the following:
The sorcerer gains temporary hit points whenever they finish a rest, which is comparable to the Giant Soul/Stone Soul's extra hit points. Because these temporary hit points cannot be healed, their reduced capability is offset by an ability to deal damage in response to taking damage.
The 6th level Slime Split draws from an ooze's ability to split into two smaller creatures. In this instance, the sorcerer can create a duplicate similar to the Trickery Cleric's Invoke Duplicity. This duplicate can explore dangerous areas, slip through prison bars, or act as a conduit for spells. To provide an extra defensive capability, the sorcerer can also split whenever it takes some common damage types and reduce the damage to zero! (FYI lightning and slashing damage also split up certain slimes)
The 14th level feature is not as cool as wings (like Divine Soul or Draconic Lineage), but combining bits of freedom of movement and spider climb is very useful in combat or exploration. It's also great for letting your party traverse odd terrain!
The 18th level capstone is a cool one! It's a basic offensive and defensive buff. An extra benefit allows the sorcerer to permanently corrode weapons. Imagine using this feature to touch a caravan of weapons right before you fight!
