"It's hard to recall what happened in the correct order. I see it all at once. We work on an arcane contraption that can mine the leylines. I forget my wand. I go to pick it up but the gates have already closed. We are blasted with a leyline fracture. My partner disintegrates. I watch my skin peel. There is no blood - only light."

This subclass is part of a 1980s themed set! It's one of my favorites because of the fun roleplay quirks and features you can get out of it, like being able to hover or shed innate light. It's like nuclear power, but this subclass can be reflavored to cover just about any sort of foreign or pure arcane energy.

The typical sorcerer progression offers defensive benefits to offset their low health (their power comes from their spells). Their 1st level feature provides a health or defense to offset their small constitution (Draconic or Giant Soul), their 6th level feature provides a resistance or evasive maneuver (Storm or Sea Sorcery), their 14th level feature provides a mobility buff (Draconic or Divine), and their 18th level feature is a powerful capstone.  Let's take a look:

Altered Form provides many combat and roleplay possibilities.

Radiation Ward is the defensive feature - gaining temporary hit points is similar to gaining extra max hit points (like Giant or Stone Soul), but not as strong because it cannot be healed. The poisoning aspect offsets this with partial offensive ability.

Core Overload is just like Phoenix Sorcery, and extends the longevity for this sorcerer.

Spatial Warp allows the sorcerer to move (like Draconic, Sea, or Divine). While not as good as wings, teleportation can be useful, especially when it comes to a party assist.

Isotopic Afterimage is a totally unique feature and allows for some very powerful effects: you can cast spells from safety (through your afterimage), gain advantage with Help, or even have your afterimage set off a bomb as you run away!
