Lost and alone, Xaco huddled against the damp bark of the kapok tree, eyes shut tight. Then he felt movement behind him - the bark had writhed and shifted. Daring to turn, he saw the kapok bend its branches and cradle him in shelter. The scion lifted the boy and simply asked, "Where is your home?"

A little expansion on the Everwood (or by extension, World Trees). A wood of immense ancient life gain the ability to connect to other trees via an expanse of roots, and send a sliver of consciousness to inhabit a tree. This scion has a wide-ranged ability that should take down a whole party, as well as wreck any infrastructure the party may have brought along.

Like treants, the scion can also be a central plot point, as it destroys buildings or campsites of people in the jungle. Why? That's up to you!
