[Collab] Item - Glimmering Finblade (Patreon)

This dagger is the weapon form of a fish species known as utility fish, who have the unique ability to briefly assume alternate form. The fisherfolk of the Glimmering Sea form a special kinship with utility fish, training them like pets and cultivating their alternate forms. A fisherfolk never sails out to sea without their Glimmer-Scale.

This item is a collaboration between the amazing @The_Fluffy_Folio and I! We collaborated once on a pair of symbiotic creatures before and now we've taken it to the next level. These fish transform between a beast and tool form, making them useful among fisherfolk. I can't wait to work explore more clever fishes!

These fish can also be found on the planet of Pteirra, one of the locations presented in the Cosmos.

Glimmering FinbladeWeapon (dagger)

This fish comes in two forms, which it chooses when it transforms.

Acid Splat. The fish amasses stomach acid. As an action, you can cause the fish to spray stomach acid in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in the cone must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, taking 3d8 acid damage on a failed save or half as much on a success. Once used, this property can't be used again until the fish finishes a short or long rest.

Spikey Bash. The fish bulks up and sharpens its fins. A creature wielding it can use it as a handaxe or a mace, and switch between either weapon (no action required). If the fish is a transformed creature, such as a druid in wild shape or a polymorphed creature, the wielder can use it as a battleaxe or a warhammer instead, and switch between either weapon (no action required).
