Today is the Creature of Castorfield's November update!

This month we had a few interesting things in the game's development, where off the back of last month's update where we implemented a lot of the map functionality, we now have a bunch of locations placeholders set up for when content is to be implemented for them.

The main two areas that had new content added were the library (as pictured above) and the Phone booth. The library is slightly different from the other places you find reading material, really only by the user interface, and it will be where you find maps (from the map rack at left) and books (from the bookshelves). Maps will help provide you with some historical context to the development of the town over time, mining locations, natural features nearby, geological survey and so on. The bookshelf part will contain books that residents had ordered from the library system for themselves to read, but afterwards was returned to the library. This will give you an insight into what things had interested the residents over time, and will provide clues to their reactions of the spooky circumstances that beset the town.

The phonebooth is one of the locations that sets you off on different quests, and provides some external clues, and opportunity for dialogue. It should function somewhat similarly to a quest board, where checking on it from time to time will give you new ideas and objectives of things to explore.

Also because of our Locktober special event, one of the rewards was to name a character in this game. Three people have claimed this reward, and their chosen character names have been implemented into the game this month. This arrives in the form of; having in game documents that reference their existence, such as census data and birth certificates, and sometimes where relevant reference in other reports and documents. The characters named by the community become part of the town's historical context and contribute to the overall narrative as the main character is trying to understand the towns spooky history.

There is still several more spots for community members to name characters, and so more opportunity will be made available for the in the future (especially if you are male, and have a name appropriate to 1932 as we have lots of miners to name).

As development progresses it'll be harder and harder to show things, and talk about some things without giving away spoilers, and sometimes the time will be spent on something way more specific that the broad feature implementation we've mentioned in previous updates, but we'll do our best to keep you updated and as excited about this project as we are!
