Honestly I'd say not to read those light novel cutouts at the start of the episode. They kinda spoil and rarely add much.

Late (but better late than never) interesting Tidbit from the japanese nuance: Pronouns are very important and also play a very big role in this show, in a way you cant really translate. We have some easy cases like the female Neutral "watashi" of Hanekawa and Senjo, and the still young-boyish "Boku" of Araragi, which sometimes switches to the more grown up and manyl "ore". Kanbaru is a "Bokuko" a girl using the male "Boku" pronoun, to underscore her Tomboyish character. Later on there are some other very important distinctions due to that. Sengoku however is very unique, she uses her own name as a pronoun. This is never done normally. You can find "Boku", "ore", "atashi", "Watashi" etc. in real life in japan, but using your own name as a pronoun is very very rare, and also very "anime" coded. As every Pronoun you choose for yourself has a Message you want to transmit ("Ore" as confident man for example), using your own name means you havent found yourself. You either cannot/will not decide on how you project yourself, or you have a heavy identity crisis. It projects insecurity, childishness and a missing sense of self.

Actually no, I’ve seen it getting spelt as magick. I’m not too knowledgeable myself but I think it’s something along the lines of shamanry.
