Quint

The conversation between shinobu and araragi is so good in this episode despite the weirdness of it being naked. It is such a good development after Kizu and honestly very hype.

The Araragi's are upper labor-class, don't let the Shaft eccentric backgrounds fool you, they basically just have a decent suburban family home! Studio Shaft is goated for having fun with the visual metaphors and Dadaist or even almost M.C. Escher-esque setting art though.

@31:00 Indeed there is. Its exactly something NISIOISIN talks about multiple times. Hair resembles Trust and companionship. In Kizu, Araragi was commanded to "headpat", what seemed like a fun fluff moment was in the novel explained with, that servants traditionally cared for their masters hair, and that letting yourself be headpattet symbolizes how youre standing above them. Simillarly this scene contemplates about the intimacy. You are holding someones head in your hands. You could at any point kill them. Letting someone do your hair not only gives them power over you, but also outsiders recognize it. Later on this theme continues to appear, be it brushing teeth, carrying on your shoulders, standing on heads etc. A lot in the novels is very metaphorical and complexer, which you cant really potray in an adaption.
