This episode had amazing production value but horrible plot execution. Seriously, they cut out about half the story to somehow press the arc in a single episode. I am not saying the source material had peak writing here. But a lot of good to decent stories feel ridiculous when you cut out half of the context.

Little sister is still a terrible person. She's still the type of person who would kill her sibling out of jealousy.

InfiniteSpeed

Don't worry, they got the bullshit writing out of the way. It's gonna be peak action adventure from now on.

Would the additional context have changed this storyline? I feel like they would have had to change a lot to make it be less idiotic. - Did they explain why they had to distance themselves from Kirika, because right now i dont see how distancing would keep her from remembering. - And why wasn't Liam punished for almost allowing Kirika to kill Amelia? Im curious what they did in the LN

Well, it's pretty simple: these events unfolded completely differently in the light novel. First, Liam was under her spell the whole time (no idea why the anime changed this). Liam was the only one who ever paid more attention to Kilika than her sister, and she loved him for it with all her heart. But then Liam was supposed to become Amelia's fiancé. That's when Kilika reached her boiling point and used her magic on Liam. He was the first person she manipulated, and from then on she built up her anti-Amelia faction. Secondly, the argument of distancing was never part of the source material either. Her father simply tells her that he couldn't bring himself to give her these terrible thoughts back and always kept a certain distance from her out of guilt for his selfish behavior.
