I love going through monogatari and being able to take the lessons that the show throws at me and how I can take said lesson and move forward.

The conclusion with how Hachikuji is able to find meaning in her existence regardless of the tragedy is great. This is also paralleled by the character development displayed by Shinobu this episode. She’s come so far from her Kizu self to be able to find meaning in her life through her relationships with others (Koyomi), and this was perfectly contrasted with her other worldline self that hadn’t had all this development. This combined with the emotions of the scene of each of them coming to terms with their mistakes and other possibilities actually made me cry. This episode is def in my top 5 of the series, maybe top 3.

Up to this point, you’ve been following the anime airing (SHAFT) order pretty much everywhere — the only exception was Kizumonogatari. So next, I would recommend watching Otorimonogatari (Nadeko Medusa arc) — not Hanamonogatari, since Hanamonogatari aired after the end of “Monogatari Series: Second Season”. After that, it makes sense to follow this order: 1. Onimonogatari 2. Koimonogatari -> the conclusion of “Monogatari Series: Second Season”. 3. Hanamonogatari 4. Tsukimonogatari 5. Owarimonogatari S1: Ougi Formula -> Sodachi Riddle -> Sodachi Lost -> Shinobu Mail arcs 6. Koyomimonogatari 7. Owarimonogatari S2: the rest of arcs. 8. Zoku Owarimonogatari 9. “Monogatari Series: Off & Monster Season”. However, fellow Monogatari enjoyers may disagree with me — if so, please comment. I'd probably not bring up this topic if possible. There are arguments for both orders, but it's here that Monogatari fans can get toxic, and I don't want anything to sour his experience. Just let him choose whatever order he wants without outside input.
