An interesting detail is that Benno offered to pay exactly what he believed the magic item would cost to save Myne to her for the extra info on how to make the shampoo. He wanted to make sure she had enough money to save herself, even though he never says that is what he was doing. Small golds are worth a lot. It is basically the equivalent of her dad's salary for an entire year I believe, so while Benno will end up being able to profit quite a bit from the shampoo, he did quite a lot to help her. Especially considering that she has no idea how much anything is worth and he definitely could have taken advantage of her.

Peak show. Slow storytelling to heal my dopamine drugged brain

The deal Frieda got is exceedingly favorable. Most nobles see commoners like cattle or livestock. Many would force a contract with a devouring commoner as a slave or a mana battery until they died. Nobles can basically treat commoners however they want. They can murder them on a whim with no repercussions.

Fuck yeah.

Food! I had a good premonition when Cawcaw uploaded a new bookworm vid in YT that he'd upload in Patreon too. Cawcaw's bookworm reactions are my current sustenance

In the light novel Frieda's maid enjoys taking care of her as well as the rest of the staff. There is a lot that was cut from the light novel or may not have been complete due to the light novel not being out at the time. There were some interesting side stories in volume 1 or 2 that explain a lot, but they were not in the original web novel so it may have been missed. I won't go into detail on them though because they are a bit spoilery. Also the magic item in the book was 2 small golds and 8 large silver, in the book Benno was told 1 small gold and 2 large silver, but I don't blame the anime for making it easier and just saying 2 small gold and 3 small gold. The light novels give a lot of Myne's perspective both in what she is thinking and what is actually happening. sometimes context gets lost. but the anime is still fairly faithful to the OG content.

I was a voter for Monster in the polls, but I am enjoying how much you are enjoying Bookworm!

43:20 Damn... This moment broke me when I first watched this anime. Gunther alone silently sobs in helplessness

In the books Myne met the entire guild master’s family and they all tried to get Myne to join them.

Fridas deal is pretty much as good as it can be. It's never explained in the anime so it's not a spoiler to say that the noble she picked is a good person and is kind to her, treating her like actual family rather than as a slave. Also that he only agreed to take her for her grandfathers connections and money since the guildmaster actually has more money than some low ranking nobles do so he wasn't interested in her personally (aka not diddy). Lastly the age of adulthood is 15 which I'd say is pretty decent for a medieval world where they work at 7.

Caw's desperation as he screams about the trombe, peak immersion.
