I'm sorry for being the "🤓☝️" but there are at least 2 important things you kinda missed. 1. The nobles are inherently different than commoners, is not just a title. 2. The purge of the nobles was a nobles vs nobles thing. The winners faction killed the looser faction.

If you ever want to know Ferdinands age in the future: he was/is 20 during Mynes baptism which happened when she was 7. So when they mention Mynes age in the future you can get Ferdinands age by just adding 13.

Stephen

I wouldn't say he missed the purge background, because it hasn't been explained yet. If I remember right, it won't really come up until part 3 of the Light Novel, which is the new season when she starts to learn more about country-wide politics.

Something interesting that isn't explained here but is in the Light Novel is the clothes Beno and Mark are wearing; if you notice, they both have long, billowing sleeves. The reason behind this is to show that they don't expect to do any of the menial tasks, so they don't have to worry about getting their clothes dirty. Normally, Mark wouldn't wear these kinds of clothes as he is performing tasks for Beno, but since they are the guests, it's expected that the High Priest would have his attendants do all the work; hence, Mark can wear these clothes.

Now that you've seen Benno dressed up you might notice his outfit is similar to the ones Justus and Eckhart first wore in the OVA when they were specifically trying to infiltrate the city. Basically they tried fitting in by dressing as merchants but messed up because they based their outfits on merchants they've themselves met, i.e. merchants dressing in their best clothes to meet nobles.

28:23 Dio and Aizen in one room.... Cinema ✋🗿✋

kazadori164 .

this exlemplafies what i find most unbleavabul about this is the things they never hell her, like about walking around with the robes on or about her atendents

Tatersalad666

I think that the reason they don’t tell her those things is because they believe it is obvious. The attendants have lived their whole lives within the system of the church and have never met someone who didn’t understand. As far as wearing the robes outside, they have never left the church before, so they too are unaware of the potential danger. I agree that it’s annoying when they don’t tell her something but expect her to know when it’s clear to us that she has no way of knowing. However, it’s a great way to highlight that they are just as ignorant about the way commoners think and live as the commoners are about the ways of the church. Neither side seems to have any contact outside of their baptism at 7 and maybe some very special circumstances like in Benno’s case where he deals with nobles more frequently than most.

Kinda rubs me wrong when people "correct" him on things that aren't even said in the show. Yes, we've read the books (or watched the whole show). We're allowed to let him be wrong, and then the actual reveal later is even better.

James Yancy

Yeah, I was going to say that too; it was nobles killing nobles. Commoners wouldn't stand a chance against trained nobles 1 v 1. Against trained nobles, probably not even 10 v 1.

Racc

I wrote "missed"but the correct word might have been "misinterpreded". I didn't say anything that hasn't been told so far, it just seems like he is under the impression that the nobles in the show are like the nobles in our past wich were at the end of the day the same as a commoner, or that the purge was done by commoners. This isn't bad, all of us have misinterpreted something while watching media, and his theories and discussions are good so I think it would be better if we correct/help him when possible. He can't cook with wrong information.

Ragon

Just for the record, i went to fetch the exact quote from the subtitles. (Which admitedly COULD have translation errors) "A few years ago, due to political upheaval in the capital, a large-scale purge of the nobility took place, and as a result, their numbers dwindled. If the number of nobles in the country decreases, then so too does the nation's power." And it goes on. On Caw's video, it's episode 13 at around 25 minutes if you want to check. On the screen, you see people, there's also a sword. It's not said anywhere that it was nobles purging nobles. It is completely reasonable with the information that we have at this moment to assume that it could be commoners purging nobles. All we know right now is that nobles are really scary, and that they can order commoners to death pretty easilly, as shown by the High Bishop in ep 14. When we say "Let him cook", it also means to not outright tell him information that is not availble at this moment. Let the man enjoy the show, it's ok if he misunderstands something, and it's not even the case here.

In the light novel when the high priest and benno were talking, benno was secretly passing myne notes on paper essentially telling her to shut up.

Racc

Sure bro. I didn't know it had to be explicitly said or it would be an spoiler. Still, I dont understand where could be the issue. Is not as if it was a misdirection to be later revealed that it was a nobles vs nobles.

Vary

22:35 you seem to be assuming that the nobles were purged by commoners, but somehow i doubt that. i think it's just nobles v nobles, or the royalty punishing certain nobles. as for the kidnapping they said it's more likely to happen from a noble out of town, i can see why a commoner would want ransom, but they would have to be capable of hiding from or defending from if the nobles send people with magic after them, so i think it would be very difficult for magicless commoners to pull off.
