This episode was peak but also insanely rushed. We get to see how underneath Flat's happy go lucky appearance he's way more calculating and ruthless. He had spiked one of his servant's NP's just in case he went berserk. It ended up serving as a F-U to Alcides, though. John's NP would activate upon his death so, I assume, last episode he got himself killed on purpose. The episode downplays how much damage the Hydra venom actually did. Yes, the mud did absorb the venom but it's still damaging him from the inside. How bad is the Hydra venom? To quote SAOA "Take the most awful, horrific thing you can imagine and then multiply it by cancer". It was so bad that when Chiron got hit with an arrow laced in Hydra venom, the pain was so great he gave up his immortality just so he could die and the pain would stop. Also, kind of a feat for Gilgamesh staying composed when multiple arrows laced in venom hit him. The Nine Lives NP is Heracles' technique he used to slay the Hydra and takes different forms depending on the weapon. Berserker in Stay Night can't use it because of Madness. Ayaka's lore is all kinds of confusing. The anime cut out the part where the real Ayaka is confirmed to be in Romania. OtakuDaiKun has a great video on SF Ayaka "Ayaka is the most confusing META protagonist" which delves into all the obscure lore that goes into Strange Fake's Ayaka.

I think most of us are assuming they'll slow down, maybe put the stuff they skipped in the next few episodes but I can't say for sure. This is where I stopped reading years ago

Yea I thought the same that they'll slow down once we get to main street and end it with gil dying but then it all happened in 1 ep. There are like 3 really good places in vol 6 to end S1 at but vol 6 is even longer than 5. But I have some hope that the team can end it at a high note for this season
