Now that we know taue fruits can become trombes we can infer there is a good chance that the star festival taue custom actually started as a way to reduce the trombe population. Additionally there is a theory that Benno's girlfriend might have died from the devouring due to no longer participating in the festival as she was engaged.

S2 is where they cut quite a bit of content and it's apparent. Unfortunately, budget was tight. But they tried their best to show the highlights of the story, and for that - Praise be to the Gods!

If i remember correctly, the author in one of her fanbooks (QnA) confirmed that trombes/taue fruit wouldn't satisfy the devouring in the long term and that myne would've died shortly after her baptism if she solely relied on it. ( many people came to same conclusion of using trombe so the author disproved it.)

Even though the low budget is reflected in the animation and cuts compared to the novel, animators at the studio still did their best. And where the animation falls, the story and characters make up for it

Never put that together but that makes a lot of sense even though she would most likely have died eventually anyways as it’s just a temporary solution and not a permanent one

The reason there are no/less blue shrine maidens is probably because an unwanted son is useless but an unwanted daughter can at least be married off for some benefits. So the girls that would otherwise get put in the temple would end up married off instead.

Irimu

I'm pretty sure it must have been explained in the novel at this point, the starbind ceremony is where people get married. That's why/how they throw fruit at newlyweds. They were just wed in the temple.

First time watching the anime (I'm a LN reader), and bro I can't help but feel annoyed by how much they're glossing over everything this season, it's criminal. It makes it look so easy and trivial for Myne when it definitely wasn't. Fuck all the character interactions, let's just summarize all the events and call it a day, I guess

You are right that this episode feels a little disjointed; it's because a lot of content was cut. I'm guessing it's because they didn't know if they would get a 3rd season or not, so they decided to cut bits that would not be relevant in future seasons (very short-sighted, but hindsight and all) Some of it was truly filler tbf, that does not advance the main plot line other than to show Myne growing into her role as the orphanage director and maturing along the way (as you said, her mental growth from season 1 when she cared about nothing but books to now is tremendous) Two of the biggest cut parts are the Diptick scene, as we are introduced to a new character that becomes very important, and has to be retconed in, in season 3, which makes the whole thing feel a little off. They also become important as they become an unofficial status symbol among the lower city merchants, with even the High Priest gifting them to his attendant later. The second thing is the Karuta Cards, which she invented, as they are not just for fun, but a learning tool to help the children to read and write, as not only will this help with their attendant work in the future, but she hopes it will make them all into fellow bookworms...lol

Thought I would do another comment for the Star-Binding/ Star Festival part... lol So the Star-Binding is the actual Marriage ceremony conducted by the church; the ones conducted in the temple are for the commoners in the lower city, while nobles tend to have private ones at their own homes for the most part. The Star Festival is what comes after for the lower city. It's all about protecting your wife, the aim is to get her home without getting soaking wet from the lower city crowd throwing Tau fruit at them, it's ment to symbolise how they will protect the family in the future, but after the initial throwing at the couples it soon turns into a city wide party of throwing them at each other for fun. After a set period of time, the children go home, and the adults start a real city-wide party with food and beer that lasts into the night. Now, the thing I also love about this is the hidden easter egg of world-building that is thrown in here, and that happens multiple times throughout the whole series, it's been alluded to in previous parts that Trombe are dangerous, and no one really knows where they come from and that one of them getting out of control can mean the knight order needing to be summoned, now imagine what would happen without this festival, the Tau fruit would be allowed to grow and eventually become a forest of Trombe, and they are only able to be used like this because the commoners of the lower city don't have mana so can pick them up and throw them. Now, was this known in the distant past? We just don't know, but it allows you to theory craft your own story, which I find great (sorry, I really went off today... lol)

Thanks for this. As long as there are no spoilers, I don't mind cut content like this. It expands the world building of the story. I like to be surprised or shocked at revelations, like the taue fruit/trombe reveal. I would have been pissed if someone had spoiled that for me.

Mine came to the workshop where Sieg was working. She decided to order 70 karuta boards there. Sieg accepted the order, but he called the elder to discuss the price. His older colleague saw the little girl and decided to fool her by inflating the price. And this is where Lutz comes into the discussion. He defends the Mine price, citing knowledge of the commission and the price of raw materials. Sieg is shocked. His YOUNGER brother, who has been working as a trader for 2 months, argues with his boss. He even tried to besiege Lutz as he usually does at home

If that were true, she'd have to have had considerably lower mana than Myne, probably closer to a lower class noble. That aside, if she did have mana like that she would be highly unlikely to be able to have children with Benno. Nobles are incapable of breeding with others that don't also have mana.

IronDestiny

Myne herself was already born with laynoble mana, so she would have had significantly less than even that. Additionally people with very low mana is able to concieve with a commoner, iirc Delia is the child of a blue robe and a grey robe.
