yeah the reason myne took much longer to warm up to gunther as opposed to the rest of the family is mainly because urano's father died early in her life, leaving her with no father figure. so having one would be something she hasn't ever known. additionally urano inherited her fathers book collection which would lead to her becoming a bookworm.

Its always nice seeing someone who appreciate a story as much as yourself get to walk the path you walked. + there always new takes from others that you never saw youself. But yeah this story is more a slice of life than action, I really would love if it was a game. A romanced based game set in this world would be so funny.

This is probably the only part of the light novels I feel really suffered adaptation wise. Sure, there is plenty of cut content elsewhere, or glossing over certain scenes and events, but going into the dream world for Myne could have had an entire episode dedicated to it. In particular, they miss a huge part of what gives it so much emotional weight. In the light novels she is able to walk and move around. She is able to interact with people. Ferdinand is along for the ride as she wanders around showing him things and explaining how the world works. She is able to eat her mothers food, talk with her, and apologize for being selfish in her previous life. She is able to say goodbye to her. She is able to get some closure with her past, and has a pretty significant moment of character development as a result. She is finally able to accept being Myne and start to live her new life fully.

I remember listening to the audiobook, and the dream scene made me cry like a bitch. It’s a shame how much the anime version butchered it, it barely has any emotional impact now🥀

Shikikoza was formerly a Blue Robed Priest (like Myne) cast out of his family because of his low mana. After The Purge of the nobles he was allowed to return home and eventually join the knights. He and Damuel were chosen to protect Myne specifically because they were the weakest knights. Shikikoza was weak for his family's noble rank.
