IronDestiny

Regarding Shikza's mana level, he actually had Laynoble level mana which was why he was paired up with Damuel and also why he was originally sent to the temple as a blue priest. From a manga exclusive side story from Damuel's pov we know that to be recognised as a certain rank you need enough mana to activate a certain magic tool during their baptism. Shikza was able to obtain Mednoble status while having Laynoble mana through a loophole where he had his baptism at age 11 instead of age 7 like normal, giving him an additional 3 years to grow his mana quantity.

If a mednoble born a child with laynoble level of mana, they get sent to the temple or become servant. If a mednoble family want to become archnoble, they need to produce 3 consecutive generation with archnoble level of mana

Hellasz123

Its not a loophole. He was in the temple cause he was not mednoble worthy. He was taken back because of the mana shortage they decided he is useful enough.

IronDestiny

The loophole I'm referring to is him getting the official status as a mednoble despite not meeting the age 7 mana requirement of the rank by instead checking that requirement when he was 11.

I wonder if it would be possible for lads to be a tiny bit more mindful (Myneful?) about spoilers in the live chat and the comments. It's a minefield (Mynefield?) out there. Like i can understand skipped trivia, but just raw dogging upcoming seasons content is lame. No spoilers is how we get great memes like TROMBE, when we let him cook.

The story is actually so unpredictable that it will subvert your expectations many times. The full scope of it is also impossible to fathom right now. Each time you think you know where the story is going, it throws a curveball at you. It's pretty epic. Season 4 will definitely open up the world more but it will still be nothing compared to the last 2 parts of the light novels. And re-Sylvester's "Pooey" thing, it's because he thinks Myne looks like a feybeast called a Shumil (he had one as a pet as a child) and he wants her to make the sounds they make .

Unrezonable

You can sense the mana of those with similar levels to your own

Unrezonable

The bookworm crowd isn’t used to getting publicly executed for trying to spoil, so they’re not as mindful about it, I guess

Racc

is that really the reason? I thought the similar level of mana thing was just for the mana sensing and in a general context it was because for someone like Ferdinand or Karsted someone with a lot less mana than them would just be considered "insignificant".

Irimu

No it's said quite a few times in the light novel. It's how the kids at the royal academy find future partners since you also need similar mana levels to have kids. People with mana start gaining the ability to sense similar mana levels around the age of 13 I believe.

nektar

Kids that have less mana than expected get sent to the temple. Shikza had less than average mana for a mednonle -> sent to temple. Then civil war purge happened and they recalled him back to Royal Academy because of mana shortage on the country. And this happened a lot, which led to shortage of blue priests = no funding of temple = fucked up orphanage situation. Full circle.

I think the stuff that is being said are not really spoilers but things that are never explained in the anime ( and probably never will) because they had to cut a lot of content from the LNs. The anime, especially S3, is more of a highlight of the story. Without the extra stuff in the comments, you can miss out a lot. For example, most anime watchers still think the MC is grown-up Urano who stole the body of child Myne when she died. Whereas the LNs and the author explain that the MC *is* Myne. She’s a reincarnation. She got access to her past life’s memories because of the Devouring and the 20+ years of memories and experiences basically over-wrote her paltry 5 years of life’s memories. So she’s both Myne and Urano, with the body and brain-development of a child. Even with her Earth memories, she’s not an adult. I’m a bit disappointed the anime did not make that clear.

Morringhan

This is a so openly fucked up world

Laynobles are basically just commoners with mana it’s an extremely common theme going forward that almost every laynoble struggles heavily with money

James Yancy

Apparently most of the people in this world that make books are in fact Laynobles. That's why they specifically would be upset. It would limit their already difficult monetary opportunities, as many Laynobles don't even have lands they rule over beyond a home estate.

PrimordialLife

The thing is not all nobles are rich. Especially the lower ranked nobles. Rich commoners are probably more rich than lower ranked nobles.

One G. O A. T. One Dream

my mom looked up old family records of the past, and found it interesting how it was basically normal to reuse a name if the child never made it past 8 It really was "oh shit, well better luck on the next one" so yeah pretty dark. Makes one realize how nice we got it in this day and age.

Hellasz123

And he would still be unqualified by that standard. Their mana doesnt change to that degree.

IronDestiny

Well then here's some actual excerpts from the manga bonus story: "Shikza had been eleven when he returned. He had apparently managed to make the magic tool used for mednoble baptisms shine, but even then, he’d only had as much mana as a normal seven-year-old. Still, he had been allowed to become a mednoble alongside his family nonetheless; the political objective had simply been to increase the number of nobles in the duchy." And: "Shikza was a mednoble, but only through some loophole or another. His mana capacity was still very much that of a laynoble, and the other mednobles looked down on him as a result. It was also why he was always paired up with a laynoble—me—during training."
