Fallen Granny

One of the best things about Tanya is how atypical it is of an anime. Usually the cast is 90% women, but here it's 90% old men and it's still so damn good. Also, it's always funny when Aoi Yuki and other VAs talk about the show, they always like to talk about who their favorite ojisan is - its the main question on everyones mind. Simply peak.

to explain the discussion with the empires higher ups (their politicians) with zettour and rudersdorf better: The army wanted to accept the peace negotations as they know the state that the imperial army is in better, and they know they wont win in the end if they keep going. The politicians dont know this. They dont have all the details and they are very cocky people. They are proud of their military strength, and they think they can always win; because they dont really understand the state of the imperial army, this delusion continues. They see these peace negotations that the military fought hard for as something that is unacceptable as they think they can just destroy their enemies regardless (they have a reputation internationally as being arrogant, but that's not explained in the anime). All they think about is getting reperations to cover their financial debts, and so if those peace terms cant cover it, then they wont agree to them since they think they can get the resources when they win anyways. They dont even ever think they will lose, and so the option of agreeing to those peace terms which will definitely lead to civil war in the empire seems stupid. Zettour gets mad at the politicians, cuz as a represantitive of the army he definitely knows the state of the war and cant see themselves winning. Rudersdorf is the same, but he understands that he cant say they cant win as he will definitely lose his position. Thats why in the end he had to say they will win, although he did it with difficulty. Zettour's words will actually work against him, but that's next episode. In the end, this was definitely the beginning of the end you could say. The reason why the Empire loses is because of how bad they are at politics. Like Tanya said before in the anime, the Empire focussed too much on making their sword strong, and did not understand how the fear for their sword would lead to their downfall.

thanks for the spoiler

Tanya most definitely would have done better in many different career paths not just a politician. The thing is is she is a mage though. She would have been conscripted at whatever age that is decided. That means she wouldn't even start as an officer. That is why she chose the career officer military path.

They should have shot all of the higher-ups right in their head, maybe they could have saved the empire then.

the last 2 eps were like this: Italy offered a shitty treaty, evefryone rejected it --> Rudelsdorf put together an op to inflate the success of the empire putting them in better stand at the negotiation desks while straining th military --> the politicians took that victory as granted and wanted more Tanya would've finished the war with Italy's offer; Zettour and Rudelsdorf forced out better terms to quit and the government refused that demanding overall victory instead of consentual treaty

"Zettour's words will actually work against him, but that's next episode." if you mean this as a spoiler then so be it I'd say he says that's sth to look forward to if you mean the Empire loses then it was already revealed in the movie by the mad scientist from the afterwar scene if you mean the turning point for the sownfall is clearly shown by how the calm and collected Zettour behaves
