Noble speak is always hilarious, all the more so because Rosemyne is so bad at it and doesn't really understand a quarter of the references. And yes, poor Damuel can't catch a break. It's been a while since I read the novels so I don't remember if Brigitte was just being dense or just didn't believe he would be able to boost his mana so she didn't take him seriously. That episode was pretty funny. The Ferdinand stuff is always gold, be it his backstory, him being a thirst trap for women and the mother/daughter duo exploiting that to the max or his interactions with Rosemyne.

In this world, saying you will raise your mana from a lay to med noble status is like me declaring that I will learn to fly in a year. People think its not even possible so Brigitte didnt took it seriously.

In the novels they did expand on the Hassheit stuff. Basically a Giebe is a noble that manages a region, so Brigittes brother being Giebe Ilgner means he manages Ilgner. Hassheit's plan was to marry Brigitte then assassinate her brother, that would make him the new Giebe Ilgner since Brigitte is his only family and for a very specific reason, not just olden day sexism, it's better to have a male giebe over a female giebe. The same logic applies to Aub's as well so female archduke/succession candidates have a big disadvantage there.
