I think a better way to think about mana capacity is that everyone has a different sized box that holds their mana and through compression more mana can fit into the same space. Someone like Damuel might not benefit as much from compressing his mana as someone else with a bigger capacity, but he can definitely increase it. Normally the size of ones box stops growing by the time you come of age, but the blessing Myne gave him allowed his max capacity to continue to grow a small amount. Now, with this compression method he will not only be increasing the size of the box, but also stuffing more mana into the same space. When mana becomes denser and fits into a smaller space, the new empty space will be filled with new mana, effectively increasing that persons maximum mana. Myne compressed her mana several times over back when she was a commoner with no access to magic tools to drain away excess mana. She did it unknowingly, but it was basically the only way she could survive with overflowing mana, compressing it down so there was more space in the box. It kept filling up, so she needed to compress it more and more.

Mana generates infinitely, mana capacity really just means how much the body can hold at once without dying and probably also how quickly it generates. Anyone with mana can do Rozemynes compression method.

The compression is difficult because you have to mentally hold those images at all times. For children, they don’t have the mental discipline to compress properly and it is also dangerous, because without tools as a back up, you are living on the knife’s edge, which is why Myne has nearly died so many times. Since she has a young body with an adult mind, she was able to increase her mana capacity to more than Sylvester when she probably started out with less than Damuel before Urano awakened as Myne.
