Material burst is E = mc2. Mass converted to energy by the speed of light squared. It's basically nuclear fission, the atoms of a tiny drop of water is enough to make a bomb and the atoms of a big object (flag on top of the ship) is enough to make a nuke. Strategic class = nuke.
