Watching the ending part of this after this weekend.... Heechul's cat, whom he has had for 20 years, passed away and he went live to share with ELF that he was ok, but he was crying. Jaejoong happened to come upon the live and immediately was asking what happened and was worried. As for Lee Soo Man, he hadn't been in charge of SM as CEO since mid-2000's I think. He was more the chief artistic director, so in charge of concept's, choosing songs for each group, their performances, and the SM Town concerts/albums. While TVXQ is often the one mentioned in regards to "Slave Contracts," as they were the ones who successfully sued and changed the the system, most groups had this, not just SM. It was unfortunately the norm, not the exception. I think Lee Soo Man did do a bunch of shady things, but he was held accountable, legally in fact. In looking at his legacy I always judge it based on how the artists he has worked with treat him. SuJu, SNSD, SHINee, and other groups all speak fondly of him, and they have no obligation to any more (well, SNSD maybe, as he is Sunny's uncle and she works with him as a producer now). Lol, when the Lee Soo Man documentary premiered in LA, several SM artists, current and former went to that instead of an SM 30th Anniversary party. Jaejoong said he has even made peace with him.

Heechul and Jaejoong were supposed to debut together as a 4 member group with U know Yunho and Kangin ( a former super junior member ) the group's name was 4 seasons. Heechul is a very loyal friend and he was the only one who openly mentioned Jaejoong on air during the blacklist. They sure partied a lot back in the early days going to clubs together, Heechul always attracted older women who payed for their drinks. As for Lee So Man he has a soft spot for Heechul. In a recent documentary about Lee So Man and his vision in kpop, he blatantly admitted that he blacklisted the 3 members who left SM

Heechul was so funny here, and it was great to hear the older stories and what they did! It’s nice to see their bond, and so funny when Jaejoong kept calling him old-fashioned! I guess it’s natural, but it’s still wild to see how much the industry and K-pop has changed over the past 20 years… And although JYJ changed contracts for idols forever, I heard that SM kept doing what they were doing, they just got better at hiding it, which is unfortunate. Just an aside, Johan, your dog is so cute! We should see him more often!❤️😊

Thank you so much for writing this out, it really helped me understand the situation more (and hopefully remember it, too!) and that the important take away is that contracts like that for idols were the norm back then that TVXQ! helped break for the better with their successful lawsuit.

I can't let her steal my spotlight!! jk I do lift her up quite often I think but maybe not as often in my JAEJOONG reactions?? now that the season is changing and it's getting cooler outside she wants to be in my lap more 🥰

This was such a fun episode! It makes me miss Jaefriends more. I think my favourite episodes were the ones when Jaejoong was with people he’d known for a really long time. The hamburger story has been in the fandom for such a long time they also used to talk about it separately on variety shows in like 2005 and 2006 so there is definitely some degree of not being able to let that go haha. It used to be a like a fan competition between Suju and DBSK fans back in the day (now I’m sounding old fashioned 😅) as to whether Heechul or Jaejoong had the more feminine appearance. I love that Heechul has retained his friendship with Jaejoong and he never turned his back on him during the blacklist. Although you know Yunho and Heechul are best friends but Heechul was still out and about with Jaejoong despite the fact Yunho and Jaejoong apparently don’t interact.
