oh, for sure! especially in korea. all the fanchants are usually mostly male voices. i'd say rescene in particular seem to have a more balanced fanbase but probably still mostly men. both straight men and gay men are all about the girl groups lol it's an interesting conversation though depending on the group and considering how kpop has evolved more globally and i think it dates back to the concept of what a korean idol represents for us fans. i think way more women are into girl groups than men are into boy groups though

That's so interesting and definitely feels like a cultural difference seeing as straight men will often avoid showing open support for a girl group in the West.
