Weeekly "After School" Comeback Stage Reaction

Comments

Adam Carter

I definitely wasn't crazy about this song the first time, but it has grown on me a little. I'm in the same boat with you I think. Tag Me was absolutely amazing, and I'm almost scared it set an unrealistically high bar musically that they were never going to be able to live up to. I really do love these girls though, to the point where even though I'm not massively in to Zig Zag or this, they are comfortably one of my favourite groups, and I hope they find more success in the future. You certainly can't fault them on their stage presence, personalities or talent though. Their variety show appearances and reality shows are probably second to none in all of kpop right now, and they're far and away the best in terms of rookies. Hopefully this message makes sense, I'm tired.

Weeekly's current concept is "high teen". I suppose that's just not your style and it's ok. Not everyone is going to like it. I think it's good that PlayM is sticking to this concept while they can since Weeekly are at the age they can continue to do this and honestly, there isn't enough of this in Kpop these days. So the fans do need it. I'm curious what you'd like to see from them though? If it's a more mature concept, they have proven through various covers they're more than capable of that so I say, in time. Give them a couple more years and they'll slowly go into it. For now, i prefer they stay close to this concept and enjoy it.

Weeekly really out here putting on musicals for their performances, the fact they invented using props for comeback stages, like the true "Theatre Kids" they are. We love to see it. "Performance Queens" Weeekly are truely setting the bar for all rookies (male or female) to catch up to them in every way. Music (Quality & Quantity), Performance and Personality.

very true also no girl groups ever actually tell stories with the "school girl concept". Girl groups only ever use it as an aesthetic. While Weeekly are using it as their entire ark and story as the foundation for the group that they are.

also the fact that Zoa is 15 still and Jihan/Jaehee are 16 still after 3 comebacks proves their talent at such the young age they are. Let's not forget these girls are still kids haha.

it makes perfect sense to me. I think we both WANT to love their comebacks more than we do, which is a little sad but hopefully there will be comebacks in the future that we truly love. and as you said, we will still continue to support the girls 💙

It's great that you're enjoying their music but it's not a competition so please be mindful of that because it can come off as a little toxic. :)

I like the song, but i don't love the rap part, especially the tag me zig-zag bit, seems very forced to me

I really love the song so I immediately put it on my spoofy, but I can completely see all the things you pointed out as well! In regards of the performance, I really like the chorus choreo and I also like that they incorporated skateboards, but I feel like they could do even more with that? and maybe adding the rolling chairs to that makes it messier than it should be. (Rather than shoehorning props in a choreo to make it look quirky, I like it more when they are simple but good.) I am neutral on popular tiktok dances as long as they are incorporated smoothly, which I think they do well enough. Overall, I look forward to seeing them slowly polish themselves to become even more amazing performers (not that this is only on the girls, rather the whole team behind weeekly), because the potential is certainly there!

I think they're acting more outgoing rather than tough and such. Their Yummy performance might be more of what you like; its really cute.
