GWSN "THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOON" 5th Mini Album First Listen

I Can't Breathe is my favorite track of the album, not just because it's a fucking BOP, but the depth of the lyrics! I think they purposely make you assume that the song is about a hot and cold/toxic relationship, but they hint about the true meaning at the beginning and the ending of the song: "The girl is myself". I believe the meaning of the song is actually a girl who suffers from a mental illness that she struggles with immensely at night. There is a part of the song where they say "Daytime", and the verse switches to "I've been hiding it inside safely but now I finally realized lately I've come to far, I can't find the meaning anymore", meaning she spends her time in the day, around everyone else, pretending to be neurotypical, but this is eroding her away. "If I'm dying tonight it's death by drowning" turns out to be an incredibly dark hook. It's not metaphorical about giving into an unhealthy relationship - it's actually talking about how the speaker/singer feels herself losing the battle against her mental illness. It's not certain what this means exactly, but I do believe that since the song refers to the "other side" of herself in third person, it means that she is losing "herself" to "the girl". In the final iteration of the phrase, "The girl is myself", myself is no longer included in the phrase. It just repeats as "The girl is-" over and over, likely meaning that there is no longer a separation between the girl (her mental illness) and myself (the singer or the speaker of the song). Edit: I forgot to mention the rap is VERY important to understanding the song, as Miya raps "The more I look away, the more I see it. I can't deny it, I'm that girl. I lose everything with just one gesture from you. I know this but I go to you once again."
