I hate cancer. It's rough. Talk to your hospital finance group, be their best friend - ours worked with us quite a bit, both on pricing and financing. Get out a head of it and be ready to spend hours on the phone with insurance and hospital companies. Healthcare.gov (Obamacare) was crucial for getting us through, you can probably get an individual plan during the enrollment period (11/15-12/31) through them for $400-600/month that will have a max out of pocket you may need if you guys are facing multiple surgeries. Make sure you get the right one that works with your hospital network - again, ask, you are your hospital administrator's new best buddy. Deciding what and how to tell kids (if you have them) is tough. Use your support networks and groups. Talk to people about what you're going through.

Shallan doesn't really know the Dalinar/Kaladin relationship and just sees him as a dark-eyed soldier, so she thinks the odds it will come back to bite her are fairly low. In the moment she went with her crew's subterfuge and wanted to show she could keep up in the con.

Nerdy, you're overthinking it. Everyone copes differently and has different ideas of how to deal with death. As for Tyn, she was keeping in character on BOTH ends. It isn't as simple as you're making it out to be.

This is one of my least favorite Shallan moments in the entire series. Especially after we had to read about how much Kaladin had to do to earn those boots...

Yeah, I really hated this scene when I first read it. Tyn is a bad influence on Shallan.
