I'm here for all of this, you guys have helped me grab things I never thought in all my rereads so thank you for making this reread a joy and a learning experience!!

Lies and truths that are lies are a little more complicated than what we'd say are simple lies. Shallan has so much of her past that she's blocking out that she needs to face. I wouldn't worry about her running of Radiant fuel quickly.

Here's the definition argument, again. Lighteyes/Darkeyes distinctions are an allegory for Racism. But, Bigotry + Race = Racism. Here it's Bigotry around caste and eye color. There are things that involve race that aren't racism, like if I say "Most of the people who live in Iceland are white." That's just facts. It's Bigotry that's the problem. This definitely is related to racism, but it's not technically racism.

Nerdy, your perspective on privilege is still very simplistic. Everyone has pains and challenges in life that this worldview simply doesn't capture. You thought Shallan was "god's perfect princess" until you saw her backstory. People have backstories that we need to try to understand before we judge them in that way. Even people you perceive to be privileged.

In world, it even makes sense. It is stated multiple times that shardblades are worth more than a whole kingdom, and if all shardblade owners have lighteyes, than of course there will eventually be bigotry surrounding it. I don't understand their surprise to this revelation, and have to create their own head canon to get through it.

Yeah, I'm really quibbling around the word usage. Sanderson is using prejudice around eye color to talk about prejudice in general (which certainly is related to racism, but isn't technically racism).

Caring about characters takes so much emotional energy for me, so when im reading or watching things, I tend to try not to have a strong opinion about anything until something hits me hard enough to break through that. It's one of the reasons I would be a fun person to watch reactions from. 😂 It's also why I prefer to know what's coming, so I don't form strong opinions that are incorrect, because I would probably cling to them. 😂
