The fishmen slavery stuff was not mentioned in the anime here was it mentioned in the live action?

Generally I prefer the original Japanese VA to the English dub. But goddamn Sonny Strait (Usopp) and Stephanie Young (Robin) absolutely crush it in the Water 7 arc.

Pretty sure it was mentioned during Arlong park as well in the anime

I am not sure it was fishmen slavery specifically just human slavery, again at least in the anime

The conversation between Arlong and Nezumi in OPLA, they both explicitly mention fishman slavery. Arlong: "And yet the leaders of the organization you so proudly represent saw fit to disparage and enslave my people." Nezumi: "Slavery has been abolished!"

Yes, the Enies Lobby arc is connected to the Water 7 arc and that's why combined it's called the Water 7 saga.

I think what Oda does really great: layered characters. The characters of One Piece are complex and we see all kinds of people (good, bad and in between). Not all the pirates are evil or good and the same goes for people from the Marines, who work for the world government. Now let's see if in the future there will be also good world government officials or if there are all horrible.
