I worked extra hours during the day today so that I could watch these guilt free and distraction-free, after my daughter and wife go to bed. Looking forward to this SO MUCH!! Prepare yourself, Nerdy. I'm so pumped that you've made it this far. Okay, going to watch now. : )

I'm not sure what translation you saw on Crunchyroll for the scene with when Saul said 'Water', since I watch on Netfilx and just manually sync and resync down to the frame by manually timing the play and pause based on camera cuts and visual cues. However, (and this is -so- not important) Saul actually stuttered, repeating the first syllable and saying 'Wa-water'. The Japanese word for 'Water' is pronounced 'Mizu'. Saul said 'Mi-mizu'. The joke is that 'Mimizu' in Japanese translates to 'Earthworm'. Oda loves his wordplay. There's no way you could have known that, just like there was no way you could have known that, back in the Skypiea flashback with Great Warrior Calgara and Montblanc Noland, the disease plaguing the island was also a play on words. Technically it's not really wordplay by itself, just an 'on-the-nose' sort of name. It was called 'Kinetsu', which literally translates to 'Tree Fever', because it jumps to humans from infected trees and can only be cured by medicine made from the bark from another type of tree (Kona Trees). It becomes sort of a play on words because of how Oda uses it in that story. The only real lack of communication in that flashback was the Shandians not explaining -the entirety- of their spiritual beliefs to the group of sailors they just met.
