It's Luffy's habit not to listen to backstories. Every time there is a flashback, either the story is only told to someone else in the crew or to a side character. Luffy doesn't want someone's past to define them. Therefore, he doesn't care about their backstories. And if the backstories contain important information, then his crew has the information and lets him know only the essential parts.

It's funny how you are unsure if we, who are up-to-date, have already seen the summit take place or not. xD There have been times when you've been theorizing things, and I just thought that we still don't have the answer to it. xD
