I always looked at it as like a translation thing with the name. The direct translation doesn’t make as much sense, but i just assume it does in Japanese.

The potato girl red eye scene was made when the studio used traditional "anime style" tropes, with chibi faces and all, before settling on a more realistic approach, which fits the story much better

Or just enjoy the show... They will get all the answers eventually. No one got the full picture by watching it once. TBH I don't like those people in the comments who have to overexplain every little detail.
