KratosRager

Alright try and be civil fellow Patreon peeps. I’m about to watch D&D and when I get out of this movie, I expect the comment section will have exploded.

Agrimmeon

"The timline is all messed up", no, you just don't understand the information you've been given. Why is the conclusion always that the show is wrong? Why can't YOU be wrong?

Minerva Ravenclaw

Obviously the First king was wrong by doing so, but he thought he was doing the right thing by isolating himself and his people on an island which he Called Paradis because to him he wanted to create this Paradise place for his People to live in. But no such thing exists in reality that's why his plan is flawed plus ye wiping people's memories is a defo a horrible idea . But yea King Fritz was delusional about creating everlasting peace

Hiro

Season 4 is done exceptionally well, so that's what people are hyping. The ending in the manga is legitimately underwhelming and in my opinion terrible though. And it's a widespread belief to the point that different groups have actually created alternate endings. But fans of the anime aren't referring to that since the anime hasn't reached that stage yet. There's also some indications that the anime will have an altered ending from the manga, which I desperately hope for.

Gu
>>106884229

It wasn't the first king , 145th Kingk,he wiped their memories because they were imperialists I believe and he didn't want them to them to venture back into the outside world. The original plan was just to have some peace for a while and then the outside world came back and killed them.

Enzo Becherel

About what Clarus said that the show better have something to say, believe me it does, and it says a lot, you just have to see for yourself. I really hope you continue the show and your reactions even though I would understand if you stop considering the struggles you have with both the show and the waves of comments you're getting.

Minerva Ravenclaw

Marley couldn't launch an attack because they were afraid that the founding titan in the walls would unleash the titans in the walls so they sent warriors to infiltrate... I'm sure they mentioned this in previous episodes... Marley has information on Paradis but not everything this will be elaborated in S04 ...

Petja Heinonen
>>106884382

I mean ending wise the fanbase is quite split, but it's still the loud minority that hate the ending. But yeah it's definitely controversial. And I mean all the fan made alternate endings are pretty hated. Like Requiem which is just a huge meme.

Khalayx

Started to write a lot, deleted it. It's impossible to take their discussion of the show more seriously than they are willing to take it themselves. I think it's unfortunate that they binged the end of the season in a particularly unhappy state, but it is what it is. I'll try the first episode or two of season 4 I guess just to see how it goes once they've processed a little.

Minerva Ravenclaw

But I'm done explaining at this point 😅 I mean who reacts like that? I mean sure you have some unanswered questions but the way you're talking it's like they'll never be answered and like this is the show's finale... You're like how did they do that, makes no sense, this is horrible, this is silly this is bad etc... Who reacts like that? Proper reactors will point out their questions, elaborate on the information they got from the three previous episodes which were rich in new info, and say I hope s04 answers the rest. But you guys are insufferable at this point... Saying the basement had no answers is just absurd ... And attacking the show this way by saying this doesn't make sense and why this would do that and and and ... It's clearly that you're only attacking the show with zero intention to actually give a proper, professional criticism. No lovsies this is no way to react .

Daniel Garcia

Hahaha omg they don’t understand anything , I give up with this two , “ nothing is explained” what!!?? Guys you know the little letters below the video are called subtitles, you must read and pay attention ok?

Wangus

Their goal wasn't to see the sea. The sea represented freedom. Their goal is freedom. They have not achieved freedom. This is literally the point of Eren's final lines this episode. I swear the entire final discussion is a spiral of misconceptions and misunderstandings fueled by their lack of attention or retention or comprehension or I'm not sure. I do wish they were able to discuss their remaining questions and concerns without making all of their conclusions based on erroneous assumptions.

Minerva Ravenclaw

Half of Hollywood movies have Nazi themes, are they also propagandizing Nazism? Even there is a Series on what if Hitler won the war, "The man in the high castle". I didn't see anyone losing their shit to this. Your interpretation is insane . And Sorry But Star Wars movies are shit compared to AOT, when it comes to writing, plot, character development and philosophical themes ... The only deep Character in Star Wars was Anakin. And the Siths are their own Kind of Nazis, destroying planets and all, genocide much?

Minerva Ravenclaw
>>106884382

Bro the fan made endings are horrific... I liked the ending it was reasonable only I hope they elaborate more on some points in the anime

Marco

I didn’t need them to agree with me on how to feel about AOT but damn the takes are so shallow I feel like they are being negative on purpose. For attention. Cringe.

Hiro
>>106884382

Agreed that it's definitely controversial, and I'm sure that some people like it. I'm just disappointed because it's just not well-done, or else so many fans wouldn't have been as disappointed as they were.. In my opinion the series could have been a legitimate top anime/manga of all-time if Isayama could've just stuck the landing properly for the ending. Which is why I desperately hope that the anime does change it, as many people are theorizing. The ending was what brought down my estimation of the series since it seemed Isayama just wanted to end it. And by "ending", I'm referring strictly to the last couple of chapters in the manga, not the entire thing. He didn't have to lengthen the series for it to be satisfactory for me.

Armani

Anyone else reading the comments before watching the reaction? Loll

Wangus
>>106885792

Jokingly yes. But that reason he wanted to see it was because of what it represented. Like his goal wasn't just to see the sea. It was to explore the world because they were free from the walls and the titans. The sea was just the shorthand that and Eren used for that dream.

L8er Bìtch

Man, you guys don't know the meaning of trying to understand, you don't, like Claroose is sitting there....pissed.....over her own miss concentrations......idk what to say, you guys have very shallow thinking, the fact that you repeat and say "it was the Nazis all along" proves that, and I guess it's illegal to use real world elements, I like how you focus on the few similarities to our real world, but don't even bat an eye to OVERWHELMING amount of differences........I already said this and I'll say it again, tell me what more similarities you can show me, other than A: Marley facist fucks B: Eldians are forced to where an armband that's very similar to Jewish people in WWII C: the eldians are kept in camps, like Jewish people in WWII I'll wait. So, what about the differences, how about the fact that Marley has an Elite unit of eldians serving at the heart of their military, what about the fact that there are literal super powers in this world, what about the geography of the world being different..., What about the fact that the Eldians are capable of fighting back, what about the fact that it's literally ALL the rest of humanity (not just Marley) that hates the eldians I guess you people have this mindset of, every facist is Nazi, and yes marley are very close to being Nazis, but tell me this, is Marley also trying to wipe out all other races like Nazi Germany?, Does Marley view themselves as racially superior to the rest of the world?, Hell you even talk about there being subjectively superior bloodlines in this world.... neglecting the superior bloodline....is the eldians...the people you think are supposed to be stand ins for the Jewish people.....are the ones that are objectively superior....., Are Marley's goals of world domination fueled by their desire to be the only race in the world?! Please explain to me how this is "too similar to real world" and it's a "crutch" and it stands on "our real emotions" I'm genuinely curious, do you guys think before you say these things? Or do you just believe that everything that leaves your mouth cannot be wrong? That you emotions and opinions are objectively correct ?

Minerva Ravenclaw

Did you also react the same way when The "mudblood" and "pure blood" thing happened in Harry Potter? Or you're just fans of the movies/books regardless.Because this is pure racism as well, even most Potterheads are Slytherin houses are they also racists and Nazis? 🤔

Mason Sali-Orvald

“Nothing gets explained” *complains about things things that are explained*

Aaron Wittwer

And some Star Wars Empire uniforms look way more like Nazi uniforms than any of the Marleyan military uniforms even. I just don't understand suggesting this is lazy, but Star Wars isn't when they are essentially evoking the same imagery.

Gu
>>106885792

True Armin wanted to see more than just to sea but I think he did want to see/touch the sea(character achievement moment) . I agree for Eren he just wanted to see it because it represented that he had the freedom to see it .

Jayden Connor

So their main issue I think, could be wrong, is that the use of nazi racism is bad because the show actually has a race of people who do have devil blood which would validate the treatment towards eldians by the Marlins. And because the show is drawing close parallels between jews and Eldians, it is dangerously close to voicing jewish hate by allowing this validation to exist. Therefore the Nazi themes are contrived and is just trying to be shocking.

punk.idea1579

I'm starting to think it's hard for them to appreciate this plot twist because they only see it as a historical parallel. When I watched season 4 my country started a war with another one. The situation is very confusing but it's funny that in a year I heard more nazi statements addressed to me than in my entire life. And this is despite the fact that I do not support the war, but I cannot say that everything is black and white there. And in such an atmosphere, it was incredibly interesting to watch the plot of season 4. And it seems to me that the aot isn't a historical reinterpretation of something. It's just a look at our world as it is. After all, it's been happening all over the world all this time. Perhaps if you come across this more than just the stories of grandfathers, it will touch you more deeply

NatureWithoutMan

i love the series, i don't think it's for everyone, and i also think it's absolutely fine for the subject matter to be either too distressing or too evocative of real life for certain folks to want to continue. all of this is ok! ...what is really eyebrow raising, though, is coming up with theories that are totally wrong and then judging the story based on your wrong theories... in fact, as a manga reader, this is exactly what the worst elements of the fandom did; they thought the story was going in a direction, not from the text before their eyes, but from their own inane headcanon and theorizing. i think season 4 Literally will assuage your fears but that's also dependent on judging the text itself and not trying to outsmart a story you've lost the plot on.

Raikon

If you guys truly believe that this show is borderline "Nazi propaganda" please stop watching and posting reactions to it. Heck why not delete your videos that you have already posted entirely. Not doing so will make you guys complicit in spreading and giving these problematic racist ideas a platform by broadcasting them to an audience AND profiting off of them nonetheless. These ideas will further embolden Neo-nazis and cause real world harm to Jewish people. Do you not care about the real world harm you could potentially cause? Please, I beg you! Anything less than this will just make you guys look like unprincipled fools who are just engaging in performative outrage, but I'm sure that is not the case. Actions speak louder than words!

Ekubochan

When a media medium spreads anti war anti racism messages = Nazi propaganda. Bffr you guys are so fucking wrong for this it’s actually disgusting

Kaze

Zyrus

All I have to say is that you two have hilariously, absurdly misunderstood and missed things in your haste to be obsessive about comparisons and being in your own head over trivial matters. The Annie thing being a prime example.

Khalayx
>>106884229

I don't think he was delusional about creating everlasting peace. At least in the scene with Kenny, the king seems to state that his goal was time of peace even if relatively short-lived. I'm also not sure I would say he was wrong to do so, but that would be a super long discussion.

Minerva Ravenclaw
>>106884229

By delusional I mean peace and conflicts live side by side as long as humans exist, that was the main idea or at least that's why I think it is. As long as there are humans, conflict will never end. Something Erwin mentioned to Pyxis before . So to me creating a "paradise" is naive

Gu
>>106892326

Spoiler :yea aot s4 takes a consequential and satirical approach to critiquing human nature's tragic tendencies and ideals.whilenl not a perfect execution at the end it intentionally speaking to the nationalist urge hoping the viewer can eventually realize just how fcked up everyone was in subscribing to these ideals. Kinda like a deception mindfck.

Armani

Like @NatureWithoutMen said , you guys need to stop coming up with wrong theories and judging the story based on your wrong theories

Peak

I think you guys aren't wrong, Anime just isn't for you because you like to be really really logical and cant let things pass. I do think you'll like season 4 a lottttt. BUT watch reviews before season 4 and understand everything that there many races. 9 titans who are intelligent titans including the Founding titan. Watch the trailer for season 4 after you totally understand everything in the world. ALSO its a show made talking about racism, like so what if it links with jews and Nazis?? You want to hide that truth of history and never face it? You guys dont let things go and you have been in a fight with your audience now about the show so your always gonna be biased and nit pick everything wrong that you can. The worst kind of anime watcher so anime isnt for you

Peak
>>106893549

totally agree, they are wayyy to nit picky about anything they dont like. I personally kind of think they are doing this for more views attention and comments lol

Peak

I wish i could talk to them in discord and just de bunk all there incorrect statements and they post it to give everyone clarity... Heres one her sayng the king had a stupid plan sit behind walls. It was said that he made the threat of the millions of colossal titans to stomp the whole world if any nation attacked them and that if that day came where a nation attacks then he would let all of eldians die because of how bad there past was... So your wrong and u porlly didnt even pay attention that theres colossal titans in the walls better yet millions and they can be controled by the founder.

Peak

Another on, reiner and bert knew EREN is the founding thats why in season 2 he said the worst person to have that power is you eren because Erens motivation and will power... And historia was just a love for reniner not important to their mission as much as u want to claim him to wanting her as a baby machine

KratosRager

Alright peeps, after hearing their bonkers bat shit explanation, I too am canceling my membership. I might come back if they do S4

PKS

Bye

im__JAM

these are the most surface level bad takes i've ever heard. Couldn't care less if you didnt like the show but this is just next level.

Eugene Conner

Ummm. They locked up Erin and Mikasa for attacking Levi.

Wangus
>>106897453

Trust me. They aren't going to like season 4. I can already predict the things that they are gonna get hung up on and that are going to make them mad.

Minerva Ravenclaw
>>106897453

I'd agree with you about the logical thing if only they didn't watch Star Wars, LOTR and marvel. Because logic or realism also does not exist in these universes.

Minerva Ravenclaw
>>106897453

As for season 4, they'll spend half the season wondering how did Eren reach Marley and nagging about how it does not make sense, until they reach the actual episode that explains it, then nag about why they explained it

Eugene Conner

Who ever said everything is answered when they get to the basement? That certainly wasn't true. But also, though I enjoy seeing the rabbit holes you guys go down, you seem to be latching on to specific similarities then jumping to LARGE incorrect conclusions, and then getting angry about your own made up conclusions. And then the comments section seems to hate you guys for it, and all the while I'm loving every minute of it. Lol (not the hate, I enjoy the atypical way the story of this reaction is going.) I hope you guys don't stop. I literally joined you Patreon because you guys seem to hate it so much. I personally love it, but that doesn't mean I don't want to hear opposing opinions.

Manny

So maybe y’all missed this part, but the king built the walls on the island and knew very well that they would be invaded. He wanted a period of peace before the world outside the walls came and attacked them. They mentioned it lol

Manny

They didn’t didn’t find out about the true royal family until season 2, AFTER Annie had been captured. It makes sense that one of the 3 infiltrators would join the military police since the MPs are so close to the king in the interior walls. They didn’t know that that king was a fake one at the time.

Manny

“That doesn’t matter to our characters”. How does them finding out that titans are humans, humanity is not gone past the walls, other civilizations outside the walls hate them… how does this not matter???

Manny

Lmaooo offended by the supposed “nazi propaganda” but will milk the views for money from the show. If they were really offended they would’ve deleted all their AOT vids and just never watch again, but the fact they edited and published the videos and are thinking about still watching the show despite of what they think is happening (which you’re mostly wrong on) is very hypocritical.

Mitchell Edward Newton

People can turn into giant man eating monsters. It's not the real world, it's just fantasy in a further ahead time period than orignally thought. It isn't nazi's just because they have a vaguely jewish parallel with the armbands. That's reaching.

KratosRager
>>106897890

Yeah Nerdy completely forgot that Reiner and Bertoldt knew. But he was so confident that they didn’t know.

Ideophagous
>>106886224

They're not paying attention. They don't care. They haven't been taking the show seriously for a while. If you don't take someone or something seriously, you only pay shallow attention with half-interest, expecting the next "punchline". AOT can bring all the important and profound themes in the world, but they'll still think it's a "cheap attempt at shock value" or "irrelevant", because from their perspective it hasn't earned the right to raise those themes. But a silly space opera like Star Wars does, go figure.

Ideophagous

I'm not expecting you to read this, but to illustrate how bad your reactions are, let me draw a comparison with 3 of my favorite reactors to AOT: 1- Filmbuff: has great intelligence and observation ability, and made some incredible predictions about the direction of the plot of AOT way before certain events happened (sometimes even before the manga when it was still coming out!!!). He's one of very few really good reactors who doesn't take notes, but that's only because he doesn't need to. Not lacking on the humility and empathy front either. 2- LM Reactions: absolutely off the charts on the empathy front. They put themselves in the shoes of the characters so easily, and understand them from a emotional point of view. They're not very analytical like Filmbuff, and often confuse some details or make wrong predictions, but they're very humble and accept that they're probably wrong about much of what they say, and are happy to be corrected either by the show or by the fandom. They don't take notes either, but that's mainly due to the nature of their reactions. 3- AutoSave: champions of note-taking. They analyze and re-analyze everything in detail, are heavily invested in the show, and try to make predictions about its direction, but without being fixated on being right. Give the show the benefit of the doubt, and rewatch scenes and episodes to make sure they got the right impressions and information.

MBH 77

I’ve never seen any reactor have such a take on the basement reveal. Calling it “Nazi Propaganda” is just very shallow imo. You missed the writers intentions completely. This distracted you so much that you missed many other details and connections which were made in previous seasons. And a lot of the question you had were answered were here too. I’m curious to see your reaction to s4.

PKS
>>106911501

very true. Even Normies, Letts React, G.O.T. Games and many more correct themselves.

JT
>>106888446

Except the term 'devil blood' is marlian propaganda, the show itself doesn't try to justify how the Eldians are treated.

Ideophagous

The thing is, most people in the comments are not upset that you dislike AOT or criticize it. They're upset that you're not really paying attention or trying to understand the plot, even though you seem to think that you do. Your take is quite shallow, and while you do raise some interesting points which had not been addressed or explained by the show (e.g. why the Cart Titan didn't warn Sieg about Levi), most of the criticism you make is either invalid because it has already been explained, but you forgot or didn't pay attention, or it can easily be explained (the show doesn't have to lay out every nook and cranny of the plot to the audience as if it consists of 5 year-old children) if you approach it with positive intentions (how can we make this work, not "hah!! I found a plot hole millions of fans didn't notice, I'm a genius!"), or it will be explained if you have enough patience and humility. In fact, I'm sure I'm not only speaking for myself when I say that I would be happy if you can disect and analyze the show so profoundly, even if the verdict is that it is mostly stupid or illogical. What you've been doing so far is only lazy surface-level dissing and dismissal. Perhaps you're not used to investing a lot of time or attention into shows like this. AOT is just not the kind of show you can understand well without some heavy investment, either by paying very close attention and analyzing and discussing it with an open mind, or rewatching it multiple times, like I'm sure many people in the comment section have done. Or you could just enjoy the fun ride, but without trying to sound profound or analytical. There are many reaction channels that do just that and it works out just fine.

Benson Cheung

I know you may have started s4 already, but please read all the comments from last three eps that explained to your questions and misunderstandings before furthermore eps. I really doubt that you will enjoy s4. s4 are based on all those things explained and revealed in the last 3 eps but somehow you two miss nearly all of them. The fact that you equating nazi-Jewish to Marley-Elida is already wrong. So many people have commented about it. I’m not saying that again.

Minerva Ravenclaw
>>106911501

See, all these reactors have two things in common, they are watching the show with an open mind and are actually invested in it.

Minerva Ravenclaw
>>106912205

Regarding the Cart I believe it was bringing rocks for Zeke to throw, that's why it wasn't near when Levi attacked. That's what I believe. I mean this one of those unnecessary details that you have to just let it go

Mysthe

So I waited for all the reactions of the ending of season 3 to come out, because I needed to hear your whole arguments. :) First: some things are still explained later. In some of these things, there are some you can guess, like Reiner-Annie-Berthold being Eldians who attacked when they were 10. Child soldiers. Ackermans are Eldians, why they cannot be controlled by the King is something not already talked about. You will have a lot of character development in next season. Oh and Annie is still in her rock, that's why the show doesn't talk a lot about her, there's nothing to say as long as she's inside it. ^^; The Jews-Nazis comparison is obvious, but it's not a total direct translation (by the way, there is a character who has a very Jewish name, Levi ^^;). The main theme of the show has always been an obvious one: war is bad. There are lot of discussions later about hating others based upon of what their ancestors did. There is even a character created just to show how to get out of indoctrination. And if it's Armin who tells the story, there is a reason, I'm talking about way of seing the world. (Talking about Armin, the book he had is a forbidden one escaped from a book purge the Paradis government did.)

Gu
>>106915322

Book considering some of it is not true. There's no empty outside so prob a mix of fiction and truth by whoever wrote that book

L8er Bìtch
>>106912205

You worded this very well, and tbh, I'm still hopeful for their season 4 reactions, that they might come around

Benson Cheung

I will try to write as much as I can that things have revealed in the last 3 eps. Explained questions: 1. Who are the people inside the walls? Eldians who were fleet to Paradis Islamd after Marley defeated Eldia. They are subject of Ymir who have titan power. (Eldians are not necessary to be Subject of Ymir) 2. What are the brainless titan? Eldians who lived in Marley got injected with titan syringe by Marley government and sent to Paradis. Dianna and Ymir (before she ate Marcel, the jaw titan in accident) were one of them. 3. Titans power. There are nine intelligent titans. 7 of them are controlled by Marley (5 now, they lost Colossal and female). The two left are founding titan and attack titan which Eren has both of them. 4. Who are Reiner, Annie, Bert etc.? They are Eldians who left behind in Marley after King Fritz fleet part of the Eldians to Paradis. They are chosen as ‘warriors’ who inherit the titans and capture the founding titan. 5. Why Marley want to invade Paradis and capture founding titan? Paradis is dangerous, first, Karl Fritz has warned the world he will trample whole world with titans in wall. Second, Founding titan has the ability to control all subjects of ymir which is basically the god of eldians. 6. What are the nine titans? They are split from the power of Ymir, the first founding titan(not the Ymir we know, she got the name from a cult). 7. What were Grisha doing? He was Eldian in Marley caught by the government for overthrowing them and sent to Paradis. He was saved by the owl and inherited his Attack Titan. Then successfully stole the Founding titan from royal family in the wall and passed it to Eren. Zeke (Beast titan) is his son and Dianna was his wife with royal blood. 8. Information from the owl. Titans holders only have 13 years lifespan( Eren has 8 left and Armin has 13). That’s why Marley need to keep Eldians and brainwashed them, because they need new ‘warriors’ to fight for them. All Subject of Ymir are connected in another dimension which called Coordinate or the path. (Ymir has said that she woke up from titan form there in 2x8) 9. What is vow of renouncing war? As Karl Fritz hoped for peace. He restricted the power of founding titans’ successor. They will obey his will for peace. Eren in 3x21 guess that he could use the founding titan fully if he touch a titan with royal blood as he touched Dianna in titan form. Questions brought up after these episodes 1. Who is Zeke and what is he trying to do? He mentioned to Eren they are both victim of Grisha (3x18) 2. What next? As now they know they have the whole world trying to kill them. You said sth like their goals is the sea. NO, it’s not. It is the outside world and now they know they are in danger. 3. Technologies. I don’t understand why do you assume they have planes? But I remember you did mentioned a good question, why are Paradis not under attack. Yes, the show will tell you throughout s4 if you actually understand. 4. What happened to Eren in last episode? What will he do? 5. What will happen to Reiner and Zeke after their defeat? 6. How will the people in wall act toward the outside world? 7. Why the owl know Mikasa and Armin?

Minerva Ravenclaw
>>106897785

Actually they're not wrong... The founder can't control the Colossals because King Fritz put the renouncing war vow, so a royal blood member can't use the full potential of the Founding titan. King Fritz is not particularly wrong by doing this but he's not also right.

wheatfat

The last couple minutes of this are actually so bad that I'm leaving, didn't expect that. It's just terribly disappointing, the emotional knee-jerk reactions and total lack of introspection. Peace

Quark's Bar

"This show is just Jews and Nazis for edgy 13 year olds with a soft magic system and nothing interesting to say about it." No that's Star Wars. Sorry I couldn't resist. The joke was just wide open. Still loving these reactions and I hope we get season 4 👍👍

NB
>>106919567

They can't wait for the fourth Death Star in Star Wars Episode 10, Return of Rey, the Revive of Palpatin, the Rise of Baby Yoda.

Yo Km

bruh i wasted 5 dollar for this. XD

KratosRager

You don’t care about anyone in the show? Hange is my fav too but you don’t like the core 6? Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Sasha and Connie? Or Levi? Yeah Eren is made to be unlikable but the rest of the side characters are pretty great.

Quark's Bar
>>106888446

The complaint on the imagery is valid. Having your Jewish analogue be a race of people who turn into man eating monsters is problematic. I adore the show for its analysis on the human condition, and its thesis on violence and hate and prejudice, but the Eldian monster thing mixed with the early 20th century time period does make me uncomfortable, and I think should have been handled better.

Hamza Jirrari

so they will start season 4 with 90% of their knowledge being wrong ?

Gu
>>106923888

I think they are too used to and biased to development is what makes characters work for them maybe that's how it is in a drama show like game of thrones, however aot takes the approach of narrative relevance,+ revelations of, and we gain more endearment with the characters due to all the battles and struggles we go along the way.

Ideophagous
>>106911501

@Gu I agree. It also seems to me that they want to have their cake and eat it. They want to sound smart and analytical in the discussion portion, but without investing any real effort or time in their reaction. The reason I brought up the three reactors above, is to showcase there are several ways you can achieve a great reaction to AOT, but they all require some form of heavy investment: either intellectual, emotional or in terms of time and effort. Maybe they thought this is like Star Wars, with relatively shallow chracaters, who have clear goals and intentions for the most part. Very few shows, anime or otherwise, come close to the depth of characterization and the richness of plot found in AOT, but one has to pay attention to appreciate that.

Wangus
>>106923888

This is the root cause, I think, of how angry and confused they constantly are. They've never connected with any of the characters really. Or really tried to care about any of them. Few, if any, of their discussions have ever been around the characters' motivations or developments throughout the series so far. They've been too focused on trying to get ahead of the plot or nitpicking minor things. Asking questions about the plot and then getting angry at the answers they made up. So if you never connect emotionally with anything that's going on with the characters. And if you never bother to engage with any of themes or ideas that are being presented, then I think it makes it a lot easier to just reject the show when it takes a turn for the more serious as it recontextualizes the plot. If you always just viewed it as a silly action show with no characters worth caring about, then of course it's going to be confusing when the show's focus shifts to start exploring those real, serious ideas which have always kinda been there, but which you were never willing to acknowledge previously.

Anna Kyruin

I'm not sure if you'll be reading this, since the comments section is such garbage lately. I did want to offer another perspective that I arrived at after my initial concern over the references to real world naziism etc. You are assuming that the fact that there is some element of problematic use of iconography in the references, specifically because it draws a picture of a world that is kind of the way that Jewish people were lied about. There is a group (not literally jews obviously) who are literally dangerous to everyone because they can literally turn into monsters. The idea that this is is the author justifying the real world treatment of the Jews is I think the less interesting take. I think the much more interesting take is, assuming that were true of a group of people would the treatment that the Jews were subjected to during the holocaust have been justified? What actions would be justified? What actions would be justified in response to that treatment? I think that when Isayama started out writing SNK he was writing a different story. You'll notice that the genre of the series seems to change over time. At first it is a horror/shounen, and then it becomes more of a mystery, then it becomes a political thriller, and in the second half of season 3 it was a grand military conflict story, and now in the last few episodes it is a tragedy. You will have to keep watching to see what it becomes, but I think the progression of the story and genre are tied to the effect of moving away from naivete. Our real world is more horrifying the more that you come to understand about it, and SNK so far only becomes more horrifying the more you understand about it's world. If you were hoping for a simple action shounen where the hero just need to determination through all of the obstacles to get stronger and then defeat a cartoonish villain with the power of friendship to make everything right you won't find that in SNK, however you won't find that in the real world either. SNK isn't nearly that escapist. It wants the viewers/readers to be confronted and jolted out of amusement, because when you're amused you aren't thinking about the implications of what you're watching. Highly doubt Nerdy and Clarouse (still not sure how to spell that) will read this, but maybe y'all will find it interesting anyway ^_^

The people in the comments saying we shouldn't criticize them or be harsh on them just calm down. We payed money for proper and reasonable reactions. And this is not it! If you bought something and it was low quality would you shut up about it? That's weak character if you do. Sorry but when I see BS I speak up. And this is utter BS. Stop defending something wrong. Their opinion is definitely not wrong they have every right to express how they feel but their attitude and behavior is defo wrong. Especially towards the fans. You can express your opinion in a certain (proper) manner and people would respect it even if they disagree. But if you express your opinion in a horrid way (even tho that's your opinion, but the approach was sh*tty) then yea expect some backlash.

Asylum

You know, I haven't even watched their reaction to this yet, or the two previous episodes because I was waiting for them all to be up so I could do them together. However, after reading this comment section and learning that yet again, you completely misunderstood, and completely misinterpreted (in a way I have never seen anyone else do so) the story to the extent you are now calling one of the best animes in recent history nazi propaganda? I can't be bothered anymore. Maybe actually shut the fuck up and listen/read what you are watching instead of trying to look cool, or just talk for the sake of talking, some of your reactions are so unbeliavably annoying because you're not even paying attention to what is going on, you're behaving like a child who has the attention span of a gnat, and maybe you've got ADHD, you certainly act like it, and that's fine - but then don't criticise a show because you didn't pay attention, maybe actually rewatch the episodes and this time pay dam attention, and you might actually understand what is happening here. No one is glorifying the Nazis in anyway so to call it "propaganda" is not only a complete misunderstanding of what propaganda is, but yet another example of how ratings hungry you both are. The fact you would stoop to that level in the first place is wrong. I will admit, there are similarities between what happened in 1930s/40s europe, and the holocaust, with what we are seeing now. But if you actually paid attention you'd understand this; Titans are Eldians. The people inside the walls are Eldians. Reiner, Annie, Bertholdt and the other intelligent titans sent to recapture the founding titan are all, also Eldians. Marley and the other nations have brainwashed the Eldians not living in the walls into believing that they are a race of devils, because of their history, because of what their ancestors did. The Eldians living outside the walls blame their predicament on the Island and those living inside the walls, for those living outside the walls are "good" and those inside the walls are "bad" and only when the bad ones are dead will they be free and able to live normal lives - all of which is crap. Marley simply wants to use the Eldians and the power of the founding titan to repeat the exact same thing the Eldians did for 1800 years, the genocide, the ethnic cleansing, the world domination crap. Our heroines without knowing, are fighting against that very thing, so how is this Nazi propaganda exactly? Other than pure symbolism which resonates with WW2 Germany, there is nothing here glorifying the Nazis or "propaganda" like. Lest we forget the first concentration camps (internment camps) were set up by the British, and before anyone says anyhing, I am British. You have lost a paying customer after this crap, it won't mean much in the grand scheme of things unless the others here who have also now had enough of your crap will also act with their wallets. But quite frankly you guys should have stopped after Season 1. This has been embarassing to watch. Edit: I watched 20-21-22, and stand by everything I said. And no one ever said the basement answers all of your questions, we said the show starts making sense when you get to the basement, but of course if you're just entirely going to disregard everything that happened because of some crap narrative you thought up in 0.5seconds, then, nothing will help you make sense of it all anyway.

Got some homework for y’all, Nerdy & Clarus, go on Google or IMBD ( doesn’t matter where u search) and look up HIGHEST RATED EPISODES OF ALL TIME . In the top 20 of that list , you’re gonna see A LOT of attack on Titan episodes , including episodes 16, 17, & 18 of this season

Armani

Which btw fun fact , attack on titan had 2 perfect 10/10 episodes. Beating our breaking bad and walking dead and game of thrones That being “Hero” 3x17 and the other being “Assault “ which is in season 4

Not to mention The 9.9 ep IMDb list got reversed 2 months ago I think originally by a glitch ( I know because I watched some of the others eps and the prior unreversed order was pretty accurate)and IMDb weirdly doesn't fix it ,hero is technically still #2,perfect game #3 higher than eps like winds of winter and 407 proxy , and hero was even #1 over ozzymandias for 2 years in the past. Regardless with s4 a total of 6 9.9 eps more than 3 from breaking bad or game of thrones.an unreal achievement over any TV show in history.

"for edgy kids"" I don't care about the characters" purposefully bad faith provocative use of words aside , maybe in reference to the show's character approach? Something I will say I think You guys really have a disconnect from Japanese storytelling , for example you expect character approach to be the same as in American works where being extroverted is perceived as a positive thing and expressions of extroverteness in certain situations are common in works. Correlating with certain type of arcs being more common. Usually more. I believe in Japan it's more common and socially accepted to be introverted. Hence those norms kinda reflect in how some characters are approached in characterization , depictions and progression. And a military show so characters are going to be more serious to a degree than something like Avatar, Also part of the reason why we like the characters is because they are optimistic and willing to fight despite living in such a cruel world. That is how they fit likeability by design in their story .

oh god. Why are you still watching this show. This is clearly not the show for you. To be frank, you guys missed SO MUCH STUFF. They tell you: the color is green. And 2 minutes later you're asking which color is it. THAT'S whats frustrating about your viewing of the show. You keep blaming it because you willingly and unwillingly discard information that the shows is explicitly giving you away. I cannot even imagine you guys watching a detective show or reading anything more complex than star wars, in which you have an absolute good and absolute evil.

Here are the DIFFERENCES between Jewish people and Eldians, since you guys saw an armband and thought this was an direct comparison to Jewish culture: - There never was a Jewish Empire, like Eldians are. - Jewish people never conquered the whole world. - Jewish people cannot turn into giant human beings. - Eldians is far more diverse in terms of ethnicity and are not united by a religion. They are solely united by genetics. Yes they have people worshipping Ymir, but it's more of a cult. - Eldians were not persecuted because of stereotypes, but because they once oppressed the world for like a 1000 years. - THERE IS NO CONSPIRACY WHATSOEVER IN THIS SHOW, EXCEPT THE WHOLE STORYT ARC WITH HISTORIA. - The jewish people ever NEVER isolated on an island and ignorant that the rest of world existed. You guys really need to go back to highschool and learn about WWII if you think that the Eldian people are in any shape or form a direct comparison to Jewish people, except the armband. Oppression of a group of people has always existed in this world and a WAY better comparison to make is the relationship between China and Japan. Know some god damn history if you're gonna appear so confident about a subject you are completely ignorant about.

I'm subscribing from your YT channel and patreon for sure. Not because you don't like the show, I know plenty of people who don't like it and others who are offended by it and that's totally fine. But at least they watched the show. They know what happened and they didn't have the memory of a gold fish and completely ignore what the show is explicitly telling them. Up to that point, I thought, hey they don't like it, but they at least talk about the narrative. Now you're making up stuff the show never said, you're expecting a story that you created in your head and since it doesn't fit that image, you're dunking on it. I don't even want to watch the other content that you have since you analyze a narrative work the same way a Karen would review an AirBNB: 1 Star: I expected 5 towels, but there was only 4.

Just watched Aliciaxlife's newest reaction for s04e03, and about halfway through she goes pretty deep into the parallels between discrimination she's received (as a woman of color), and the way discrimination is presented in the show, and particularly how the show effectively captures the resulting trauma from that ongoing discrimination. Her conclusion essentially stresses the importance of empathy as factor in media literacy. Your ability to relate to characters and situations in a personal, historical or some other way is going to have a huge effect on the way you engage with and understand a piece of media. I think this largely captures the reason this channel has been so frustrating. It's not that I don't think these two are capable of empathy. I started watching NN because I enjoyed their reactions to and thoughts on Edgerunners and Chainsaw Man. But whereas they did show empathetic understanding for those shows. It just seems as though, at least past a certain point, they never really tried with Attack on Titan. They've basically always only been able to engage with it on an arm's length, sort of analytical level. Even when they noted characters they liked (i.e. Historia), it seemed like that was more due to how her actions effected the plot rather than who she was as a character and what she was experiencing. And without that empathetic layer of interpretation and understanding, things just spun out into anger, and confusion, and misunderstanding. If nothing else, this has been an interesting case study to witness, and insightful as to how/why some people are having a more negative experience with this show.

Gu

To answer Claroos question, There is a lot of implications that have thought provoking messages in these eps, these are what i interpreted.Note:With inflammatory behavior in your videos NC, I'm doing this mostly from my interest in aot, This is very long guys in comments sorry but I might as well maybe then they will begin to see some things. 1. With the masterful use of it, irony is probably the biggest literary tool of aot ,with how aot originally presents itself as very one dimensional story, battle show\shonen. Originally we believed the titans are one sided creatures that need to be exterminated.Titans representing probably one the baddest thing regular humans could face from a fantasy aspect ( aside from omnipotent gods) these powerful incredibly difficult to defeat creatures that are just come to eat humans for no particular reason at all. You think the source of these fantasy creatures would be some kind a fantasy evil being, in a way it critiques that mentality because it's easy to come up with that kind of conclusion and excuse, what kind of monster villain would think of sending such monsters to eat innocent people like this ,after three seasons we think this might be the case but as it turns out no the biggest evil isn't sourced by some magic powerful being that's just simply evil but rather just humans ironically leading to the realization considering the context of the presentation that it isn't some sort of fantasy villain the most evil but rather just humans and the ideologies that they succumb to and in this case human hatred and the ability of humans to do the worst possible things to other humans. It became so easy to detach yourself from the titans simply hating them and treating them as a simple one-sided antagonistic beings but then once the truth is revealed it brings out a reflection in a way nobody could have expected a long with a turn not nobody would have expected in a story that seemed to be entirely revolving around fantasy. 2. That moment when marlean officer smashed his hand in hatred of the eldian truth "to exterminate everyone one of you that is the wish humanity desires " was one of the most horrifying moments in media for me , imagine going through three seasons learning that even told the world incredibly cruel with man eating titans coming to get you , everyone still had some slimmer of hope and pride that what they were doing is the right ,noble cause.of protecting humanity ,especially what had just transpired in season 3 and how the scouts slim source of moral was for humanity . It's one thing to kill off a character ,it's another to crush what they stand for.The feeling of in just some moments the entire moral pride , all this time was a lie, that they had been fighting for actually hates them so much that are why they have been in this situation , is horrifying. 3. It was really with just one episode that really the entire morality of the show kind of turned upside down and questions of the scale of the outside world vs paradis and of the warriors. 4. All the scouts hated the Titans season 1 , they wish they would just disappear but then it turns out the outside world sees them as the very monsters that they hated , except they are regular people but they see them as monsters because of their past kind of like metaphorical Titans. Now the scouts feel sorry for the Titans and they are on the receiving end of the same kind of hatred they have for the Titans of just wanting to kill them and to disappear. Specifically Eren: its a fellow patriot, we can see his display of empathy now and how things have warped. It really brings out a perspective of tragic feeling and abrupt but earned sense of reflection on the audience towards the morality of the show. 5. You Guys already saw it back in s3 p1 the scene with yuri and Kenny (keep in mind who these two are)looking out in the lake into the distance calmly.. peacefully, it kind of gets shown multiple times these episodes with the implicit suggestion of what it actually implies. 6. There's more but it's insane how a story about humans versus Titans is able to extract out this philosophical messages about humans ,and take so many turns into it's moral.part of the appeal is how mind bending it becomes, along with subverting expectations and assumptions of the storytelling and direction. 7. History and ymirs dichotomy. and it's depictions of irony. 8. Kruger's words which you glrossed over " all I know in this world is there is no truth.." these kind of remind me of Sean tank tops reactions to aot being their first anime they really weren't connecting with it's appeal at all to be honest only realizing after engaging with the comments, Keep in Mind This is the end of season 3 these episodes are amazing and are also it's supposed to be a setup for season 4 so I don't really expect the show to tell me it's end game morality yet.

Ideophagous
>>106986923

Yep, things went south with their reaction at some point, and the fact that they don't receive any meaningful feedback from the comments (because they don't read them, ignore them, or because they think they're smarter than everyone else), made it harder for them to engage with the community and to course-correct. I don't think they should continue with season 4 unless they rewatch the previous 3 seasons with more attentiveness, or at least check some reviews or reactions of some popular reaction channels like Filmbuff or LM Reactions.

>>106986923

I've also notice Nerdy has poor timing when cracking some jokes. It would be this emotional moment or something that needed you to focus and they'd be laughing and you could tell the scene did not really hit because of that. That and that they have been making assumptions about the show and about the world and been either a) disappointed with their made up reactions and had their enjoyment lessened, b) just been completely off about their reads like with the nazi asumption and let that distract them from the show and c) never really grasped the exact stakes and circumstance of the world. Like how hard Nerdy is on Erwin, and rightfully in some cases, the fact that they no nothing about the titans is ever taken into account. How could they predict for the female titan or for her to have special powers, they can't.

I agree. The lack of discourse with the community was definitely unfortunate. Most reactors acknowledge when the comments correct them about some misconception they may have locked on to, but without reading the comments they just locked in and at least some of their ongoing confusion seems to stem from those misconceptions not having been corrected.

The "lack of discourse" is cause the community were assholes, and y'all told us repeatedly not to read the comments. You can't complain that were not reading them, when people started intentionally trying to spoil us in from episode 5 onward

Aaron Wittwer
>>106986923

I understand why you didn't read the comments, and it's fair enough. I just think it negatively effected how you experienced the show, not being able to receive some feedback/corrections on plot details. Or at least it was one of the many factors that effected it. Some other reactors have editors/mods that filter comments to them, to avoid spoilers (and trolls), but you can't expect everyone to be able to do that I suppose.

I just joined the patreon to see these upcoming reactions and, judging from the comments, that was a mistake. Not gonna watch the reactions & immediately unsubbing. Nerdy started off AoT with some kind of hate agenda, trying as hard as he could to dislike it. Clarus seems to have been pulled into the same mindset by Nerdy to avoid conflict. Any show is bad if you try to be uncooperative with it.

Asylum
>>107159186

I think, their reactions were genuine up until the second half of season 1 at which point the Erwin bashing began and the AoT community came out in a rage about it. The problem was nerdy was extremely two-dimensional when examaning Erwin as a character, as if everything was black and white, and it's not. That being said, the comments did go overboard, but, was also partly justified considering their extremely bad character analysis of Erwin. To the point now they clearly continued the show out of spite, but without actually caring about what they were watching, or even trying to engage with it and their fan base, and it shows, even to the extent that they would call it nazi propoganda just to be controversial to boost their views. I, like many others, cannot wait for my sub to end too, subscribing here was a mistake.

CM DLR

This show is not about “Jews and nazis”… the entire series is a social commentary about the cyclic nature of humanities polarization, war, and generational trauma. The wheel of hatred that just never stops. What do you mean it has nothing to say?? This show is NOT about a hero that’s going to swoop in and save the day. The show tricks you into thinking that’s what it’s going to be about, and that “the other” are the bad guys. Is it shocking?? Yes, duh. It’s not just shocking for the sake of being shocking though. As a viewer, the show makes you see characters in black and white, but by the end, everyone is seen in grey. Just like how real life is. The beauty of the show is that it makes you sympathize for characters you thought you would just hate. Part of me wishes you would continue to see how the rest of the character’s stories are written, but at this point you don’t seem to get the storyline, and just mock it despite people trying to tell you, which is frustrating as a viewer. So at this point, I don’t think you can take the ending. PLEASE NOTE: THE ENDING IS TRAGIC AND NOT SATISFYING. If you don’t understand it now, then you aren’t gonna understand it later. And if you don’t like it now, you aren’t gonna like it later either.

flyingbread
>>106962951

First, the Madagascar plan was created by Nazis themselves as another way to oppress. The eldian king isolated his people from his own will and relinquished the grip he had on the world. If you're talking about shipping off eldians on Paradis Island, then you should be smart enough to know that Eldians are used as weapons to indirectly attack the walls without triggering the wall titans to wake up. Jewish people were never used as weapons of mass destruction. Eldians are being "punished" because they made the world suffer for a 1000 years. Jewish people are being "punished" through a series of lies, conspiracy theories and untrue motives. Both are not the same morally and factually. I'd love to see you make a case against that. Again, the only similarities between Eldians and Jewish people are being tagged as a minority and being victims of oppression and ethnic cleansing, which may surprise you, is something that plagues history. The best comparaison between AoT and our world is the conflict between China and Japan (see Nanjing Massacre). A once dominating empire that conquered the rest of East Asia that has now fallen back further East to a small Island and adopted a isolationist mindset. They have now been overpowered by one of their past victims. Except that China isn't responding back the same way marleans do, it is not a 1:1 comparaison. It is also similar to North Korea because of their extreme isolationism and threat against any nation who messes with them, through their nukes, similar to wall titans that will trample the world. Thank you, I followed your advice and looked up the points you mentionned and it was a fun read. It just reinforced the point that Jewish people and Eldians are nothing alike except the armband. It is also funny to note that you criticize AoT for their nazism symbolism, yet you are the most hardcore fan of the biggest Nazi glorification piece of fiction in the mainstream scene. I do like Star Wars, but I'm not stupid enough to believe that Lucas intentions are to depict the Siths as being morally virtuous. Who would think that right? I mean, it doesn't make us sympathize with Darth Vader, a faschist monster that commited genocide against a whole planet for their political differences and hunted down every person and child who believed in the Force as some kind of religion in order to exterminate every last one of them, right? lol "then sit and have a think".

I don't watch AoT reactions so not sure about all the heat I'm reading. To be fair they're doing quite well with The Expanse and that show definitely is not about absolute good and absolute evil. I'm seeing many comment here suggesting they don't get along with the grey area of the characters but The Expanse is all about all sides having a good point to why they do what they do. It doesn't follow typical tv tropes and yet they're enjoying and praising the show constantly.

Shawn Anomaly

See NN catching serious heat for their reaction to AoT. I don't watch AoT reaction since I came to personally not care for the story which I found flawed in too many places to enjoy. Stopped watching at the of S3, interesting story but one I found all over the place. Have to say I agree with the plans being rather dumb that all parties in this show make from start to end.

I want to personally thank NN for being so inflammatory and having so many people feel the need to correct them and explain the story and history in such detail so far. There are assholes in every comment section on every content creators videos, people are always intentionally trying to spoil the plot because they think it's funny. That being said, your patreon subscribers haven't done that (at least not whilst I've been here, I really doubt trolls pay you to annoy you), but the youtube comment section did get very much out of hand at the beginning, and whilst the comments were unwarranted, a lot of what was being said, you needed to take on board and understand, and you just didn't do it, you saw the negative and then just switched off to everything else being said. But as others pointed out, you could benefit from a moderator of sorts, not just for your AoT reactions, but for all your videos, it helps. The problem with the "asshole" part is because you then also decided to just double down on your behaviour which just ended up aggravating the community, the youtube watchers, and your patrons even more because whilst YT can be toxic, we are paying customers - and many in the comment section offered advice, helpful comments and important information that you overlook because you talk too much (no offence), repeatedly over and over again - but you completely disregarded everything that was said until now we get to this point, where you are 3 seasons deep, don't really have any emotional attatchment to what's going on, and behave as though you're simply watching the show out of spite to annoy the toxic portion of YT, irrespective of your patrons, especially those who subbed here specifically for your AoT reactions.

If there was any hope for these two I'd urge them to do the following: Yes, this is a very long comment NN, but I urge you read through it all. Go back and rewatch S1-3 with the knowledge you have now, don't necessarily film them as reactions, but just go back and watch, and try to take notes on things with what you know now. Revisit the episodes that caused the most community contention, which are, mostly Erwin-related, and instead of looking at the situation with 20:20 vision, or with the benefit of hindsight, try looking at the situation and all the variables from Erwins perspective and then decide what you would do. Or how you would approach the situation, if you can come up with a better, successful plan based on the exact knowledge Erwin had at the time, I will be impressed, this isn't to say I want you to like Erwin, I just want you to understand his choices/decisions and his character more. Taking the forest as an example: - They cannot sit behind the walls for months on end and wait for the Colossal and/or Armoured titan to reappear and break another gate. Due to the killing of Sawney and Bean they must accelerate their plans for they understand that someone among them is a spy, and they must root them out. Erwin realises (just as Armin does later) that it was odd how the Titans never tried to attack the inner-gate of Trost (that is the Armoured titan never appeared), which means their focus shifted from the gates destruction to something else - Eren. So how do you flush the spy out? You set a trap and bait it. The spy would never risk trying to capture Eren inside the walls, that would be suicide (which is exactly what we see happen at the end of S1, with Annie being captured) - they have to take Eren outside the walls if they hope to flush out the spy. - The expedition plan has been withheld from anyone who wasn't in the Scouts prior to the fall of Wall Maria, everyone else has been given misleading plans. We know, Reiner and Bertoldt have shared their copy of the plans with Annie (this information could have been shared before Annie left for Stohess, or they could have met somewhere halfway between Wall Rose and Wall Sina in the dead of night to exchange said information) which assumes Eren is at the head of the right flank, where Annie attacks from. - Erwin is at the head of the formation, he cannot directly see what is going on everywhere. Smoke signals can only relay the most basic information, and casualties are more than expected. - They are unaware of the female titans presence until they are basically at the forest, it has taken time to relay that message to the head of the formation, by this point the head of the right wing has been decimated, but they are unaware how much further the female titan has penetrated into their ranks. Erwin must now decide to either cut his losses and return home, IF they can even do that with the female titan following them, OR to at this point to make the deaths of those soldiers mean something, that if they can capture the spy here and now, those soldiers would not have died in vain. - Erwins plan was to capture the spy in the forest, he believed the following, the terrain of the forest would give the Scouts the advantage because it is the ideal enivornment for ODM gear & is also the easiest position from which to launch a surprise attack, in this last factor he succeeded. - Given no one who has yet encountered the female titan has lived to tell the tale, they are wholly unaware of what she is capable of, which is why strings of Scouts continue to attack her from behind whilst she is chasing Eren in the forest. Levi also at this point makes the decision that their deaths should mean something and capturing this titan and uncovering their identity is the best they can hope for, which is why he continues forward to the trap location rather than fighting the female titan on his own, he puts his faith and trust in his comrades which is what the whole scene between him and Eren was about. - They are unaware the female titan can call pure (or unintelligent) titans to her location with her scream. They are unaware she can harden her skin. And it is these two reasons as to why Erwins plans failed, for variables that he, nor anyone else could have planned or predicted for. Some facts about the logistics / timings: The plans for the expedition have been known for several days thus allowing Reiner and Bertholdt to meet with Annie and give her said plans. Annie was missing for a day, Hitch remarks as such in S1 E23, the Military Police are entirely corrupt and so lax, they don't care nor notice her absence. This missing day was the day of the expedition and her return to Stohess. Now, there is 130km between Wall Rose and Wall Sina, a horse (of the real world) can comfortably walk at a pace of 16km an hour, that is literally walking speed, not trotting, not galloping, not running, but walking - at that speed alone, it would take her no more than 9hours at most to get to Trost in time for the expedition, if she left after dark, and the same amount of time to return to Stohess from Trost. They return from the expedition late afternoon, and Annie is back in Stohess the following morning, which is all entirely plausible, if you assume 18hour travelling back and forth, and then a 6-10hour expedition. She has a 33-34hour window (with the travelling and expedition being around 28hours at most) if she left at midnight the day of the expedition to get to Trost, and returned in time to get some sleep at around 3-4am the following day and be awake in time for the morning rounds at around 9-10am. This is all while assuming her horse walked the entire distance and without mentioning that the horses they use in AoT are endurance-bred for long distance riding, which is stated as such in one of the mid-scene cards. Now let us examine Stohess - Scout activity has been frozen and they cannot launch another expedition beyond the wall, thus they cannot set another trap for the spy outside the walls. - They have discovered that Annie is the spy, or have more than enough reason to suspect it's her and thus must in some way force her to reveal her identity if it is. - The only realistic place they can fight a titan is within a City, their ODM gear would be useless outside of it, and it has been made clear from their skirmish in the forest that Eren alone cannot defeat her. - It is clear that someone fed Annie the information about Erens location which means there is one or more spy in addition to Annie inside the walls, they have no knowledge of who they are or from which regiment they might be a part of, thus Erwin chooses not to disclose his plan to anyone else. - They had 3 plans to minimise the potential loss of life and prevent any destruction to Stohess, but again, for factors and variables out of their control these plans failed (except for the last plan). Plan 1: Lure Annie underground and contain her in a confined space in which she cannot transform, this plan is predicated on the hope that they will not arouse her suspicision and she will willingly follow them. Plan 2: Should she not follow them underground, incapacitate her at the mouth of the underground path, the area had been cleared of civilians. They successfully restrained her. They could not have forseen the existence of Annies ring which allowed her to injure herself. Plan 3: Should she transform, have Eren or others lure her to a nearby location for capture, the only flaw here was they did not have enough time to prepare enough traps, because they literally did not have the time to do so. - Up until this moment all loss of life had been minimal or restricted to Soldiers alone. - Failing all of this, the last resort would be to have Eren fight her into submission with the help of the Scout Regiment in a perfect ODM environment, which ended up working, unfortunately this plan involved the greatest cost of human life, but it's not as if they did not make plans to prevent this from happening, they planned and prepared for every logical eventuality, unfortunately they have no idea who they are dealing with and how well Annie and the other warriors have been trained. Pay more attention to the story you were told across S3x20-21. Because I feel as though if you go into S4 without doing this you are only going to become more annoyed not only with the show, but with the community, which is only going to further impact your viewing experience, and potential enjoyment of the rest of the show. There are definitely shared elements and symbolism between the Nazi/Jew and Marley/Eldia situations but they differ in very key areas which is important to understand; - Eldia was responsible for 1800 years of ethnic cleansing, genocide, and essentially world domination through use of the Power of the Titans. - King Fritz, the first king of the Walls anguished over this history and what he and his ancestors had been responsible for, he fled to Paradis with as many people as could follow, so that he might create a 'brief Paradise' for him and his people inside the walls until the inevitable end. He expected, and wanted Marley to wipe out Eldia and the titans, he embraced this for he saw no other solution to the Titan problem. - The Marleyans do not want to commit genocide when it comes to the Eldians for they NEED the Eldians and the Power of the Titans to conquer the world, which is how this differs between the Nazis. Yes, they want to kill all the Eldians living inside the walls because they are not brainwashed like the Eldians on the continent are, they also want to ensure Marleyan control of the Nine Titans, which if not passed down is passed down via the paths into an unborn Eldian child. Now, whilst this does resonate on 'some' level with the propoganda spread by the Nazis about the Jews, and Paradis resembles the Madagascar plan, it would be more prudent to align this with two other historical examples instead; first, the Zionist movement, the creation of a Jewish homeland (Israel/Paradis) and secondly China & Japan as pointed out above. It is also important to note that the show in no way thus far has glorified the Marleyan 'race', they and the rest of the world simply view the Eldians as a race of monsters, there is no belief that their races are 'better/purer' than one another (which was a view held by the Nazis about the Aryan race) just that the Eldians are bad because they can literally become Titans, secondly, the Marleyans do not seek the extermination of all Eldians, and lastly the Eldians within the Marleyan internment camps are treated better, and have more freedom then Eldians held in internment camps in other nations, which is also another key difference, Eldians are held in internment camps all across the world, not just in Marley.

The reason why people worship AoT is because of the foreshadowing and convoluted plot-twists. There are multiple levels of plot-twists in this show and, like you said, every plot-twist feels like the start of a new show because it redefines the whole rules and universe of AoT. But deep down, believe me or not, the story doesn't matter that much. It's just an excuse to portray a desperate war situation where there are no good/bad sides anymore and where every choice left available to you is immoral and will lead you to regret and despair. It's not uncommon in Japanese anime/manga to use background lore like a tool. For example, in Evangelion the characters face apocalyptic attacks from intergalactic "angels" everyday, but nothing is ever really said about what those "angels" are supposed to be, or why they are attacking them. Because the story is characters-driven. What matters is how the main characters face the situations they're stuck into and what impact it has on their lives. Just like it doesn't matter if the monsters in Evangelion use biblical names and references as it doesn't serve any anti-Christian sentiment, it doesn't matter if the Marleyans are inspired by WW2 German soldiers or not as there is no underlying political propaganda. They're just a tool for the main characters to experience adversity.

Aot is plot driven , also this is endgame it's supposed to be a roller coaster in season 4

edgyness isn't bad but as a more general anime watcher, the way NC calls aot edgy is __ to me. Imagine them watching hxh or Naruto , bleach will make them reevaluate their standard.fundamerntally tho edginess is one of the expectations and wants of anime. If you disrespect that then just don't watch it. There are definitely some actually one dimensional edgy anime but aot pulls off horror pretty well s1-3 and it's not only really dread but more so existential dread is one of the core introduced themes of the show. Yams actually managed to.

True, AoT is plot-driven. Isayama even admitted he thought he lacked the ability to convey the emotions of his characters. But I was trying to make a point about the Nazi imagery being irrelevant to any political statement.

Something I feel should be said to make sure your expectations arent jarred anymore ,incase other comments didn't make clear about the " anti fascist " messaging, while the show ultimately presents an agenda of a stance opposing nationalism due to things that happen in s4 (all this btw is a huge spoiler and part of the venture in realizing that yourself on s4 a big question is what kind of morality the show is about in terms of its endgame messages), it does go in a very roller coaster way in season 4, , the show does speak to a very strong nationalist ( not about real WW2 pro nazism ) urge within the audience in a brilliantly cultivated(in many ppls opinion, depends if u watch it how anime is intended to be watched cooperatively and how obsessed you are with hard realism) ,very unique and powerful way . while I'm not one for nationalists irl .I appreciate it's brilliant execution. It also has other elements which so many people irl parallel to as well ,It does deconstruct some of the dark elements but also takes implicit satirical approach as it's critique of it. Implicitly Challenging/wanting the audience to try to figure out the endgame message of the story

It's not about that. It's that the show literarily tells them: Answer is this. And they spend the entire conversation criticising the show for not telling them that answer.

i thhink what you're missing is that can't handle abstract concepts and story telling, you need information to be simple and spoonfed to you. you can't handle a show that differs from the norm and doesn't follow the same tropes as most other media.
