Monday Movie Nights selection was "O Brother Where Art Thou" . This was our first time checking it out. Interesting film!!! I may try to fit another movie night in this week as well. I'll keep you all updated via Discord about that.

It’s crazy how much “animal cruelty” is in this movie omg cows getting hit by cars and frogs being squeezed to death ! My lil sister would report this movie to the better business bureau 🤣🤣🤣

My favorite movie - at least top 3 and so quotable. While I think George can sing, he did not in this movie. There was some press about it but his Aunt was a. Rey famous singer on Broadway. Rosemary Clooney Also this was based on Homers Iliad so the women at the creek are the sirens, John Goodman was the cyclops, etc

I saw this movie 3 days in a row when it came out. I dragged different people each time. I had never heard this kind of music before and I’ve never been the same. Edit: and I saw guitar player when his band came through my town! We got hang while he waited for the locksmith to come, they’d lost their keys and didn’t realize until after the show 🤣 he’s a GREAT musician

One of my favorite movies of all time, especially for the music! Btw, mostly white congregations can sing these hymns with soul too. Just Soul of a different sort. But, I'll never forget that sleepover with my friend and going to a Black church with her family for the first time. That music will stay in your bones.

I don't think you guys are really thinking about how hard it would have been for a woman with six kids and a baby back then. Even if women did have the options they had today she wouldn't be able to afford child care so she couldn't go get a job that would pay for all them anyways especially with a baby that young she can't be away from. She's not a villain for telling them that their dad got hit by a train he's a villain for going out and getting arrested and leaving her with all those kids. I think telling them that their daddy was killed is a lot nicer than telling them that he is a criminal lowlife deadbeat which is exactly what he is.
