Uncut Reaction: The Walking Dead Season 3, Episode 12

Episode Summary:

In "Clear," Rick, Carl, and Michonne set out on a mission to retrieve weapons from an old police station. Along the way, they encounter Morgan, the man Rick met at the beginning of the apocalypse. Morgan has since become a changed man—broken and paranoid—living in a fortified house filled with booby traps.

As they reconnect, Rick is forced to confront his own fractured state of mind and the toll the world has taken on him. Meanwhile, Carl and Michonne share a quiet, tense moment that showcases the depth of their bond. This episode highlights not only survival but the emotional costs of this new world.

P.S. For those who want to tune in early early catch us during our live reactions on Discord!

Demon Rick

Enjoy your Vacay brother 🙏

Menia Battle

Addison, this is an apocalypse world; not the normal world's rules. He literally just shot at them. They just had a shoot-out. They don't know him. However, I do understand what you are saying. He had signs for them to keep out, and it does look like they are robbing him, but I doubt if they would have just walked up there and robbed him knowing how our group operates. They would have asked him for supplies or whatever they were looking for.

Steveo

Ray and his liberation day can piss off as our coming recession looms.

EliG

Rick, Michonne, Carl -- why no shower at the station on your way out?! Hot H2O! Morgan clean, sporting a nice t-shirt and flannel, prolly even had some Old Spice on. Michonne needs a new shirt at least! The gang should relocate to that town! Thank you for the 3 episodes!

Isis Atlantis

Appreciate the 3 uploads in less than 24 hours **** I will point out that you guys missed that the location where the "Vatos" lived from season 1 were all dead.

zoë elisa

YES i love this ty 🙏🏼🤍!!

Christina Smith

A dentist, because they’re naturally psychopaths. If you can enjoy pulling a tooth out of someone’s head, cutting zombies head off is light work.

Rindamarie

This episode had some of the best writing. It's a hard episode but one of my favorites. I love how Michonne is making her way into the group.

girlboss

Welcome to the Michonne fanclub. Happy to have y'all on board! Lmao.

Queen S

How you guys I appreciate the three uploads I mean I wasn't expecting it so quickly anyway this was one of my favorite episodes Lenny James did his thing he always makes me cry when he talks about how he lost his son the dynamic between him and Rick and the way their lives change Adison you was right about the way their life's flip-flopped I was hoping you guys caught that anyway thanks again for the reactions they're always good until next time ❤️

ondraya

Michonne definitely connects with Carl quickly, I think she recognizes the fighter in Carl, but also sees him as the kid he is. She doesn't coddle him like Lori did, but she doesn't simply treat him like one of the adult men either. He's a kid who needs guidance, but she also respects his capabilities. And Carl liking her now goes a long way towards Rick liking her more now. Morgan has some of the best acting this show has ever seen this episode! Every part of this episode is perfect imo, one of the best episodes of the whole show.

Harmony

Yay!!!💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾❤️

EliG

Right. Either right b4 or after CDC? SMH Good guys.

Fellerz

Idk if it was season 1 episode 6 deleted scene or season 2 episode 1 deleted scene but you can tell The Governor killed them all, Merle said he was found by the Governor nearly bleeding out to Andrea

StrawHat

the best episode having only rick, michonne and carl says a lot loll they're the best 3 characters for me

Fellerz

So, when someone loses a leg, it's called "The Hershel Special" and when someone loses an arm it's "The Merle Special" LMFAOOOOO

Stephsmithanie

I knew you all were going to feel some way about them taking the dudes bag ha ha. They have learned repeatedly that trusting people is dangerous or maybe they were going to get him on the way back, but it was too late.

randvi

Saving this and ep11 for after work tonight!💜 Since I know you two love Darryl PLEASE PLEASE 🙏🏼 y’all gotta watch The Boondock Saints 😇

nattyindi

The generator is dead by now

Brooks Duncan

Being a doctor may not be the best survival for a doctor but people find you valuable and will be less likely to deny or even kill you from there group, personally i think they got the best survival odds.

gayjinchuriki

This was an incredible episode! I really liked the connection Adison made between Rick and Morgan, that Rick understood Morgan going crazy after experiencing grief. Except of course, Morgan went beyond crazy and was purely insane!! Lennie James was incredible though in this episode! The way he had portrayed Morgan in that mentally broken down state was great acting. It felt very very real, especially when he was tied up telling Rick how his wife was gnawing and eating into their son.+

jasmin

lol adison’s face when they swiped the hitchhikers gear had me losing it

Camillionaire

This one of the episodes I've been waiting for yall to get to. Let's go!

TheDawg

I would like to add combat medic and survivalist trainers to the list of people that can be well equipped for the zombie apocalypse

vanessa

this episode is goated

connie

"That was like a 2.5% flirt" 😂😂

Ash Lee Can

Morgan is the reflection of who Rick can become. Rick lost Lori, but he still has his children. He still has his people. We've already been seeing the sanity slippage. The horrors of his PTSD. Morgan is what Rick can happen to Rick if he loses everything...

Ash Lee Can

The Walking Dead habds down hot screw over for Emmy nominations. So many performances and not one nomination. This one us one of the most buggest anubs the show's gotten. Lennie James should have gotten an Emmy(or at least a nomination) for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for this episode. His "seeing red" monologue is hands down one of the best performances of the series imo. Man came in and earned every bit of the check they gave him for it. Should have thrown him a bonus. Not only probably my favorite bottle episodes, but certain in my Top 10, if not Top 5. Also, this man is British, which adds a cherry on top of it all lol. But there's a reason why Hollywood go for British actors so much. They take their craft seriously. They train for this...

isthatchrisk

After Morgan wakes up, that whole exchange between him and Rick while he's explaining everything...the best bit of acting of the entire series. Lennie James completely brought the acting of TWD to an entire new level...even Rick and his silence and facial expressions. Just pure brilliance between these 2 brits

TeddyKGB

EXACTLY! The ONLY thing being liberated is the $$$ from our 401ks and Medicare! The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me!

The Lazy Cajun

Lennie James acted his butt off in this episode. And Michonne secure her spot on the crew. ❤️❤️ everyone we have now is solid except Merle.

B_Ran

No lie I'm enjoyint TWD reactions more THAN GOT

TeddyKGB

TWD was going up against Breaking Bad when it comes to Emmys, and the acting in BB blows away anything TWD did. I'm not saying the acting in TWD was bad, it just wasn't anywhere near the acting in BB. Plus, TWD had "source material" to go off of (comics) where BB was a completely original show.

Jen M

Loved the back to back to back!!! 👏🏾

Constantdev

The urge to spoil things with basic, nondescript information has never been so strong. ANYWAYS I'd like to reiterate this show is perfect for y'all, perfect mix of drama, action, and character depth and it really gets you having good discussions and it's great

Constantdev

This show is just so good for their reactions. Gets them talking a bit more than GoT

Constantdev

I remember when this episode aired. Everyone was talking about his speech and predicting it would at least get nominated

Constantdev

so many urges FIGHT THEM

Constantdev

And this involves TWD how??

Jen Bee

Curious what was cut at that edit @1:39 where after Addison said “idk what you’re talking about “ and Brandon said “You’re gonna know after this episode” 👀🤨

courtney 🧚🏽‍♀️

shows like TWD don't get recognition due to the content of the show. zombie shows/movies have never really got the nominations they deserved which is so stupid bc this show has some of the best acting.

akaSuzyMae

"Rick can't even Harlem Shake no more" lol.

OfficiallyRenea

“Unless you can do it tomorrow “ 🤣🤣this is why there are so many procrastinators

Sierra Davis

I ain’t gonna lie, the first time I watched this episode I was annoyed that they didn’t help the guy out. This just shows the viewers how careful you have to be with anyone you cross. Just because man was needing help didn’t mean there were not evil motives there, but maybe he was cool. We’ll never find out😂. They did what they thought was best and his supplies were there so why let them go to waste. It was sad to see Morgan in that condition, but it also shows how this world can change a man who resembled Rick’s personality. We see Rick is slowly changing, but Morgan has lost everything, so of course he would deeply fall off the wagon quicker.

Laticia spicer

Morgan make me sick! Like why didn't he just leave with Rick in the beginning. There was no reason for him & Duane to stay behind!

Austin Hogan

I wouldn’t have left the hitchhiker behind every time I saw that it made me sick fr dude could have been a asset to the team

Dan

he didnt clear his wife and his son died so now yeah hes just clearing zombies basically to "do what he should have done" before

Allen Turner

Crazy, I just ordered pizza as im watching this lol

bella

yall my favorite reactors and yall reacting to my fav tv show, just got my wings im bout to fuck these up while watching this wit yall

* The title of the episode, "Clear", refers to Morgan clearing his neighborhood from signs of the apocalypse because of his mindstate, caused by his son's death. * It also refers to Rick beginning to clear his head after Lori's death and he begins to come back to his senses. Rick sees Morgan and realizes that what Morgan has become isn't far from what Rick would have become if he continues on his path. * The episode's exact runtime is 00:43:07. * This episode marks the return of Morgan Jones to the series after being absent since S1EP1 "Days Gone Bye" * This episode contained a scene that later made fans believe was a prelude to the Whisperers, Morgan in a deluded rant, screams to Rick about "People wearing dead people's faces!" Although at the time, the group had not been conceived and it has since been confirmed by showrunner Scott Gimple that this line was totally accidental and a coincidence. "That definitely predated my knowledge of the Whisperers, because they were not at all in the book yet," Gimple said. "Maybe that could wind up being a reference." * This is the first episode Woodbury has not appeared in since it was introduced. * The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, has stated this is his favorite episode. * The picture Carl wanted to get from the restaurant was seen in The Walking Dead Webisodes: Cold Storage * The song that played in the closing scenes of the episode is called "Lead Me Home" by Jamie N. Commons. * The episode features key locations of Grantville, Georgia in the Coweta County: * The Grantville's Historic Railroad Depot was transformed into a Café. * Morgan's "Stronghold" is actually Grantville Mayor Jim Sells' Downtown Apartment. * The Walker Stockpile Area was the City's Former Cotton Mill. * During his Q&A at Walker Stalker Con Chicago 2014, Greg Nicotero said that he tried to pitch in an alternate version of the episode, where Woodbury appears in this episode, shows the Governor after getting slit by Andrea, his neck is all wrapped with bandages. The Governor then takes Andrea away, as a result of her failed assassination. Upon asked why he tried to pitch this version of the episode, Nicotero explains that he wanted to show the viewers what Andrea's intention is, which is keeping the Prison safe as possible from the Governor, and listens to what her friends said about what she has to do to the Governor. * Among the names in Morgan's apartment (aside from Jenny and Duane), which may or may not represent real people as Morgan was suffering from delusional episodes: Abbey.

* Rick expecting there to be guns at the King County Sheriff's Department is strange since he had cleared them all out in S1EP1 "Days Gone Bye" to make the Sheriff's Bag of Guns * At the beginning of the episode, when the group passes by the wreckage for the first time, Rick can be seen having a bloody wound on his chest, which he gets much later in the episode. Also, Carl has his hat on, while in the preceding and the following scenes he has it off. * While talking about possible firearms kept in bars, Rick mentions he signed the permits for them. Georgia doesn't require any type of permit to keep a firearm on the premises of a place of business. * When the female walker in the dress approaches the spikes to get at the caged rat, you can see the spike that impales her collapse. * When Michonne and Carl were traveling to the back of the café, Michonne held out her sword, which has blood residue of a previous walker she killed. Then she killed the walker behind the bar, the one that grabbed Carl's leg. When she pulled it out, it only had the blood residue of this walker. * When Michonne pulls her sword out of the walker that grabbed Carl's leg, the sound of the sword being pulled out continues even after the blade is visibly removed from the walker's head. * At the end of the episode, back on their way to the prison, they again reach the pileup of wrecked cars. This time they get around it on that side of the road where the trailer lays, passing by its top. However, what we see as they are pulling back to the road, is that the trailer lays with its wheels toward them, on the other side of the road, which could be only if they were driving to the town's direction. * When Morgan stabs Rick, pulls the knife out of his body and drops it, it isn't bloody.  * While Michonne and Rick are talking about Rick seeing things, you see a crossbow on Michonne's back. When Rick gives her the keys and Michonne throws her bag in, the crossbow is still on her back. In the next shot, the crossbow is laying in the back of the SUV as she closes the back hatch.
