Montrose is a good example of closeted Black people (men in his case) back then; they were in a club that is a safe space for people like them. They’d deal with racism from white people and homophobia/transphobia from the Black community, so they could finally be themselves amongst themselves without judgement. Also, I think some of the patrons were drag queens and some were transgender.

Guys also should watch The Deuce HBO. FANTASTIC show! Like perhaps gritty for yal but such good stuff! Same guy created The Wire so you KNOW good if David Simon show. Also watch his show- mini series also HBO " We own this City" true story of mega corrupt cops in Baltimore story! Soo important and worth watching shows how evrryone knows system fucked but wheels keep turning (Also The Wire show same idea why phenomenal works of art- shows all sides of life) Black Ruby / Sinners actress amazing in it. EVEN the Trailer with her voice narrating is great she has such presence in every thing seen her in! And the Deuce white women Ruby actress is in it James Franco and bunch actors!

i personally wouldn't do what ruby did. and she did a lil too much in my opinion. i know we all have our individual traumas, etc. but idk she rubbed me the wrong way with her behavior. i love being a black woman and i wouldn't want to change that ever.

I really enjoyed this episode. And sorry, but at least right now, I love Christina's character. She's extremely smart, ambitious, she knows how to play the long game, and seems to be one of the only characters that actually judges or chooses people based on their personality/flaws regardless of their color. Each person she interacts with is shown their desires as well as how those desires are their downfall. She's the only character not ruled by emotion and seems to see the world clearly.

I understand why Montrose didn’t tell his son. He would be even more ostracized than he is now. I can understand not wanting to lose what little family you have left, and then not knowing how to cope with suppressing that side of you and turning to alcohol. Still no excuse for beating his son, but I can understand it. LOVE THIS SHOW!

It’s easy to say what you wouldn’t do when didn’t experience what are people with through back then. Especially dark skin black women. again like i said we all have our own trauma but me personally idc if it was harder i wouldn’t do what she did to have white privilege. that’s just me personally based on my beliefs and ideals but i get why other people would. i just don’t understand bc even tho being black comes with that struggle i would rather deal with the extreme racism. i’ve never been ashamed to be black but im sure there’s a generational aspect at play.

first of all idk if you’re black or not therefore your viewpoint could be completely useless. regardless, like i said…i can take all of that into perspective and still vehemently know that i would never ever ever want to be white. for a day, for an hour or even for a minute. doesn’t matter the circumstances. i would rather deal with vile racism than ever choose to be white. idk why you can’t accept MY opinion and choice of what I would do but it doesn’t really matter if you do or not lol
