Interesting how when Carl meets that man that it’s a reference to the first episode when Rick shoots the little girl walker

Tyah Reacts

I have “My mercy Prevails Over My Wrath” tattooed on my arm. Such an iconic and powerful quote from Rick.

Randon Fun Fact: I believe Danai Gurira was also filming Black Panther/Infinity around this time. So, sometimes she was playing Michonne and Okoye on the same day(one during the day and the other in the evening, and both were filmed in Georgia), and had to keep track of which character she was playing at the time lol. She's keeps herself busy, I'll give her that lol. She's a award winning, Tony-nominated playwright, so one of her plays, "Eclipsed", starring her Black Panther co-star Lupita N'yongo, had a short Boadway run while they were filming the beginning of season 7, I believe(which an Off-Broadway run the year prior, and Letitcia Wright(Shuri in Black Panther) starred in it over in London before it hit Broadway. "Eclipse" because the first play with an all black, female cast & creative team to hit Broadway. She also where she first met Ross Marquand(TWD Aaron, who also played MCU'S Redskull in Infinity War/Endgame, and also a pretty great impressionist). I'm pretty sure she also introduced Steven Yeun, who let her stay at his place for a few when she first got until she found hdr own place, to Kevin Feige(MCU), who was a fan, which probably helped getting him cast in Thunderbolts(MCU) before he had to drop out due to scheduling, but Kevin says he still wants Steven in the MCU, and wants to find a role for him. I think Danai may have also intoduced him to Daniel K(her husband in Black Panther), who he later co-starred with in Jordan Peele's film "Nope", So, not only does Danai seem keep herself busy, and breaking barriers, she also seems to like putting her co-workers in her works(or vice versa)...

"Another One Rides the Bus" was one of Weird Al's very first parodies - I think the lore is that he recorded it in a bathroom while in college.

Rindamarie

Writing on Episode 4 in the spinoff series was exceptionally well-written. I hope she gets more script-writing gigs.

Ash Lee Can

I know she made a 2-year writing deal with ABC back in early 2020, right before COVID got everything shut doen. I don't know if she ever really got to do anything with it due to the whole COVID situation, and the affect it had on the entertainment business. I don't know if made another writing deal or not...

Elena

Some people there hate negan and wanna go, but if you remember they hunt down the people that wanna leave, there are workers and children there aswell prob.. that don't like negan but have no way out.

Korivex

It was actually quoted by Sadiq from the Quran. But still... it is demonstrated by Rick and I think it is pretty cool for a tattoo... it can carry meaning for so much in life.

Korivex

Seriously.... could you three guys just try to stop being so attractive... I can't focus.

Constantdev

I totally thought it was styled to look like the N64 logo, it is really cool though

Constantdev

I absolutely love this episode and this season! Well, most of it anyway.

Brooks Duncan

At the 12:15 mark, Carl hit's his daddy's old move all the way back from Episode 1 Season 1. Fun fact!

Sara Tucker

Yall so talkative in this one 😅 I’m trying to make it through it though. Missing a lot of dialogue

everydaynegroes

Glad you are a part of the family! & I appreciate you for the feedback on the videos!!! 🫶🏾 -Adison

KING Guyton

One particular moment in this season made me mad 😂 i think you know what I'm talking about

Rindamarie

Y’all don’t know Weird Al Yankovich?I’m old. 😐

Mya Marie

I understand if you guys stop watching after this season…. Its been fun boys💔

Dark D

I have to give it you guys. At the start you asked if we thought you would finish the series before the end of the year. I didn't think it was possible (we just finished GOT, and that was a slow burn 😂). But now, you are on a great pace to actually finish it before the end of the year. All 11 seasons.

ERIK

Y'all so dumb for saying this type of stuff

ERIK

I bet your life ended once you started disliking what's happening, such a s h a m e

Mya Marie

I can have an opinion Tupac 🤣

Eric

You don’t like season 9?

connie

Because mind you S9 better than s7 and s8 🤷🏾‍♀️

connie

Literally wasn't, not even comic wise but ok

connie

The man who Carl helped said "my mercy prevails over my wrath" and that it was a verse from the Quran. Rick also later says this same phrase at the end of the episode. Also, in case you missed it, Rick told Maggie "once this is all over, I'm following you," which is something he's been kind of building up since he had her taking charge in some respects..

Mya Marie

That’s YOUR opinion. My favorite is the beginning seasons

Rosalinda

Another one rides the bus is a weird al song. You have heard of him right? He's like the og parody king. You've heard of Amish paradise at least no?

KING Guyton

The beginning seasons are the best but S9 is FAR better than S8 and S7

Pure Logic

Yo you guys were confused at how Daryl was hitting those shots so easily with the revolver off the back of the bike. Just wanted to let you know the revolver he was using is called a Judge. These revolvers are specially designed to chamber .45 caliber and .410 Bore-shot rounds. .410 Bore-shot are like small shotgun shells that spread like a shotgun.

Cleo Griffith

I tho for sure Adison or Brandon would have clocked that.

Cleo Griffith

The start of S8 Michonne and Rosita is missing in action bcuz Michonne/Danai was doing Black Panther and Rosita/Christian just had a baby. Rick stop mid count to mock Negan bcuz he did it to them in the line up. We have 2 new characters Regina and the guy Carl was trying to help. Will he be good or bad?

Jock Wihn

I get why people stopped but honestly, if IT didn’t take place, THEY wouldn’t be around for later seasons. It broke my heart too icl. Still pissed about it to this day

Jock Wihn

I feel like people just say that. Honestly up until the mid season point, this season was amazing. Even afterwards with Rick and Morgan (that’s all I can say so as to not spoil the show). That stuff was epic

Athalia Bowrey

Looking like Mowgli had me in tears! Can’t wait to see what y’all think about the season!

Cnz43

B3, you should pick up some dried fruit medley nice big back eats!!!!!!! GOD (Jesus Christ) loves you!!! Romans 10:9 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Why Does The Noise Not Work For Me Sometimes

decarlton huston

Just want to say yall do such a great job as reactors that I join the patreon fam and yall will be the only ones I will ever subscribe to…

Tina D

Did we pick up the fact that Carl at this gas station looking for gas is just like Rick's opening scene season 1 looking for gas right down to the looking under the car?

Tina D

Adison - The hitchhiker's orange backpack makes an appearance.

My Fyoochur

I HAD to sign up for the patreon. Your reactions are by far some of the BEST I've seen in years.

* The title of the episode, "Mercy", comes from Siddiq and Rick's statement: "My mercy prevails over my wrath". * This episode is 67 minutes long, according to AMC's schedule. * It is the third season premiere in a row to be extended. * This is the first extended episode this season and the nineteenth extended episode overall. * This is the 100th episode of AMC's The Walking Dead. * This episode has the lowest ratings for a season premiere since Season 3. * This is the final episode of the series to be watched by over 10 million viewers on its initial airing. * This is the fifth consecutive season premiere that is written by Scott Gimple and directed by Greg Nicotero. * As of this episode, Seth Gilliam (Gabriel Stokes) and Ross Marquand (Aaron) have been added to the opening credits. * Also, as of this episode, Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha Williams) has been removed from the opening credits. * Austin Amelio (Dwight), Tom Payne(Jesus) and Xander Berkeley (Gregory) are still listed under "Also Starring" despite being regulars in the previous season. * This is the first episode featuring Khary Payton (Ezekiel Sutton), Steven Ogg(Simon), Katelyn Nacon (Enid) and Pollyanna McIntosh (Jadis) as series regulars. They are all listed under "Also Starring". * Jordan Woods-Robinson (Eric), Cooper Andrews (Jerry) and Jayson Warner Smith (Gavin) are upgraded from "Co-Stars" to "Also Starring" in this episode. * This episode contains references to the first episode: * Carl searching a gas station is similar to Rick searching another gas station. * Gabriel being surrounded by walkers in a trailer with Negan is similar to Rick being surrounded by walkers in a tank. * Addy Miller, who portrayed the walker Summer, makes a return as a walker that Rick sees after meeting up with Carl, bearing resemblance to her such as a chunk of her cheek missing and a cut on her forehead. * Rick wakes up in a room after having received some sort of injury after an unknown amount of time and starts looking for his family like he wakes up in the hospital in Atlanta. * During the highway scene where Carol and Tara are waiting for the herd of walkers, there is a flower graffiti on the wall nearby Carol. This could be referencing either S2EP4 "Cherokee Rose" or Carol telling Lizzie to look at the flowers before killing her in S4EP14 "The Grove". * When Carl returns to the gas station to leave the survivor some supplies, he can be seen carrying the orange backpack that the group took from the dead hitchhiker at the ending of S3EP12 "Clear". * When Rick stops counting down and starts to shoot at Negan, Rick can be seen saying "Fuck it," before firing, however, the audio is muted. It was later revealed by Greg Nicotero that audio mixing for the episode was completed before AMC could potentially approve the use of the f-bomb in that take. * Ezekiel's quote from the start of the episode is from Shakespeare's Henry V. * In the scenes where an older Rick wakes up in an apparent flash-forward, a parody of Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust", 'Weird Al' Yankovic's "Another One Rides the Bus", can be heard. This could be a reference to Rick's victory over Negan in this apparent future or the use of the camper van later in the episode. Yankovic has commented that although he was puzzled at the song choice, he was honored to have his song chosen. Scott Gimple has said the choice was to make the scene jarring, and "Storywise, it had to be a song that I wanted Judith to be into, but I didn't want her to be into something necessarily typical..." * In the final of these scenes, the people of Alexandria Safe Zone built a big owl for the festival. This could be a reference to Jessie, who had previously built an owl out of metal parts with her sons. She also had an owl tattoo on her arm. * Rick counting down for Negan's lieutenants to decide whether or not they surrender is similar to Negan counting down for Rick to cut off Carl's left arm in S7EP1 "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be". * The 1985 Coachmen Senator RV that first appeared in S5EP11 "The Distance" from the Alexandria Safe Zone is destroyed in this episode. * The episode is dedicated to the memory of John Bernecker and George Romero. * The clock pointing 8:23 in Rick's flashforward scene is Scott Gimple's tribute to Lost (as the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 usually make an appearance throughout this series). It's also the same time that the clock in Cyndie's room in Oceanside pointed to before she brought the fish to Tara at the beach in S7EP6 "Swear". * Rick taking a photo of Negan before leaving is similar to how the Saviors took photos of Negan's victims in previous seasons. * Greg Nicotero and Andrew Lincoln advocated for Negan to get shot in the arm or leg during shootout, as both thought it didn't make sense for him to come out unscathed despite being shot at by many people.

Austin

* In the scene where Dwight secures the note to the bolt and shoots it back toward Daryl, the walker in front of Dwight can be visibly seen blinking several times. * In the scene where Carol and Tara are waiting for the herd to pass under the bridge they're on, the shadow of the bridge and the walkers are in a different direction. * Two Alexandria extras can be seen on guard duty atop the wall as the convoy leaves Alexandria, despite both men appearing with the militia at the rendezvous point.

Austin

The In Memory tributes were for John Bernecker who was the Actor for Mark (The guy who got half his face ironed) because he tragically died during filming of Season 8 from a Stunt gone wrong While George Romero is the "Father of the Zombie" a true Icon and Pioneer who passed during filming of Season 8 in a morbid fact only 3 days after John Bernecker

lia

I personally believe Sasha's death made a lot of sense for her character! She seemed to have passive suicidal tendencies and was full of despair beyond reach after each of her losses. Losing Abraham as well was too much, and in my opinion her choice reads like it would have from the beginning. I'm more surprised she didn't hide a weapon and try to actively kill Negan, but this way she ensures she can't be used against her family, and gets her peace. It's not entirely a guise because she is hoping that after she turns she will be lucky enough to finish Negan off, but as someone who has struggled with suicidal thoughts and impulses, her scene was very cartartic and I empathized with her completely. It has its faults but I really do love this show and the imo the character writing is what always stood out and made it shine!

KairoWick

Love how much this episode compare current carl to beginning apocalypse Rick, so many scenes are recreated
