This movie is a part of the MCU and is the first and only Hulk film in the MCU. The 2003 movie "Hulk" is a standalone film entirely. This film, "The Incredible Hulk", also acts as a soft reboot for the character since it announces his entrance into the MCU. Lastly, this is canonically the 2nd film in the MCU following Iron Man, of course. Hope to see you guys watch all of them in release order.

Also, the Brazilian guy teaching him how to breathe at the beginning of the film is Rickson Gracie. He's a well-known martial artist in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. His entire family is well known and is hailed as the founders of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, derived from the original Japanese jujutsu, and yes, he is also known for that insane breathing technique, which actually does help you control your breathing better and take in more oxygen.

The old 2003 movie was a pre-MCU standalone Hulk movie and it was unwatchable. Please, PLEASE don't waste time rewatching that one lol it has absolutely nothing to do with this one or any other MCU movie.

Actually this movie is apart of the mcu universe and if not the 1st definitely the 2nd to drop in the mcu universe leading to the avengers, the end credits scene with tony stark meeting the general in the bar talking about putting a team together he was talking about the avengers, and the General also has the same role in later marvel movies, the only thing that separates this movie from the rest is that it’s a different actor playing the hulk.
