The end of this movie is so messed up and depressing but it's also like. Man if I thought it was the absolute end, didn't think we had any hope whatsoever I don't know if I wouldn't do the same thing, it's just the fact that they were so close that makes it hurt so much more

Also I just started so no idea if y'all got calls on this one where someone already explained this but the main actor in here, I think it's Thomas Jane? He was Frank Darabont's (show runner for the first season and director of this movie) original pick for Rick Grimes, I don't know the details of why he didn't end up with the part but I'm kinda glad he didn't cause I truly can't imagine anyone else besides Andrew Lincoln as our boy Rick

Fun fact, not so fun fact. Not what happens in the movie, but the mist itself and the military project and all that. Is actually based on real local rumors of a town in upstate newyork thats near a military base where classified stuff goes on. Though likely false rumors. Still a cool fact.

The movie follows Stephen King's story almost exactly - except for the ending. Even though King says he likes this version better than his, I prefer the glimmer of hope that is in the original.

Thomas Jane was staring in an HBO series at the time named “Hung”. Had HBO picked up TWD they would have worked around his filming schedule for both shows. But ultimately HBO passed up on TWD so Thomas wasn’t able to commit to the show anymore.

The painting in the beginning that Brandon thought was Clint Eastwood is actually from another Stephen King book, the Dark Tower. That character is Roland Deschain, the last Gunslinger who was absolutely based on Eastwood's "Man with No Name" character 😉

This is one of few King adaptions I can say I really enjoyed. I used to watch it all the time. I'm also big on zombies so I watched TWD premiere on Halloween night and noticed all these faces. That is when I realized who the showrunner was.

Ending was wild! I about jumped out my seat when they showed Carol. Lawd, a mother’s strength! Naw, I would’ve just waited and hunkered down in the seats and stayed quiet. I’m not going out like that. Stephen King a savage for this🤦🏾‍♀️. They went through too much to go out like that.

I never noticed Dale or Morales, good catch. I'm torn on the ending. On one hand they could have chosen the same ending as the book -- they find a car with gas and keep driving BUT no help comes as the Mist never goes away. It leaves viewers with some hope which is the overall theme. On the other hand, this movie probably isn't revered the way it is if not for it's ending. All hope is lost when the car dies. This and Arlington Road, another one y'all should check out, have such unique endings that it's hard for me to not appreciate.

The ending was sad like because tbh what would you do in a situation like that… Me personally wouldn’t have done that because no…. But like I get why he did it you know he wanted to spare them the gruesome long death but still 😭😭😭😭😭😭.. He should have just waited… I remember seeing this in the movies back then and everybody was crying because of the ending…. I still got teary eyed because I haven’t seen the movie in years … Plus the ending Song is fire for real I used to listen to it all the time.

Fun fact, in the first couple of seasons of TWD there's a shot of an empty supermarket. It's an ode to this movie. The director Frank Darabont is also the developer, writer and director for the first two seasons of TWD. The lead actor in this Thomas Jane was wanted to portray Rick in TWD.

Another fact the soldier they kicked out is the same soldier in the first episode of TWD. Rick encountered him in the tank. Frank had an entire episode planned out for him for season 2 of TWD. He was fired.

So not only were some cast members from Walking Dead in this, got to put respect on the name, Frank Darabont is behind this Stephen King short story adaptation. Frank wrote A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), The Blob (1988), The Fly II (1989). And directed The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and The Green Mile (1999) before The Mist and brining The Walking Dead comic to life as a TV series. Watching Walking Dead seasons 1-3, you'll see a lot of individuals that appeared in his previous works.
